Another Good One From PopPop Bill
woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the
New York Times.
Dear Sir:
I am writing to thank you fo r bouncing my check with which I endeavored
to pay my plumber last month.
By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his
presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed
to honor it.
I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire
pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight
years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of
opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty for
the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the
manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant
financial ways.
I noticed that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and
letters, --- when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal,
overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become.
From now on, I, like you, choose only to de al with a flesh-and-blood person.
My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be
automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by check, addressed personally and
confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate.
Be aware that it is an offense under the Postal Act for any other person to
open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact which
I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages,
but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about
me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his or her medical
history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details
of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be
accompanied by documented proof. In due course, at MY convenience, I
will issue your employee with a PIN num ber which he/she must quote in
dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again,
I have modeled it on the number of button presses required of me to access
my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the
sincerest form of flattery.
Let me level the playing field even further.
When you call me, press buttons as follows:
IMMEDIATELY AFTER DIALING, PRESS THE STAR (*) BUTTON FOR ENGLISH
#1. To make an appointment to see me.
#2. To query a missing payment.
#3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
#4. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping
#5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.
#6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home
#7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer
is required. Password will be communi cated to you at a later date to
that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier.
#8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7.
#9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put
on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service.
#10. This is a second reminder to press* for English. While this may, on
occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the
duration
of the call.
Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an
establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement. May I
wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year?

Too Much Bull
Sorry no pretty pics or tags tonight. Today has been an all around bad news day. I take Rebecca to school and the teacher tells me friday is her last day as a teacher there. They transferred 3 teachers to a worse school then this one and she was one of them. All 3 teachers being white. I have been at this school since October and let me tell you racism and kissing ass is a big time thing there. It's sickening. I actually heard one of the school administraters who is black tell a lady from the office who is also black, "Welcome to our little piece of Blackadelphia". Sickening isn't it? These 3 teachers are good teachers. They care about their students. Rebecca's teacher was in tears this morning telling me what they have done with her position there. I told her she is a good teacher with a big heart. Over the summer get her certification for the New Jersey school system and get her resume out there. Get the hell out of Philadelphia school system, because she is too good for this place. I am so sick of this fricken city and there school system. I have made up my mind. When we buy the house, it'll be in New Jersey. Ok, now the second bout of bad news. Emma calls me tonight. She says our dear friend Joe, who lives downstairs from us and we have been friends with for over 20 years caalls her today. Out of the blue he says, he ain't doing nothing up here in this apartment until we move. That the carpet is filthy. Umm excuse me. I own a steem cleaner and not only have I cleaned the carpets, but Jim did all the carpets last week. And that he can't use his airconditioner because we use ours and he doesn't want the bill to go up. Then he complains about the gas bill. Umm hello, I don't control what little heat he turns on in the winter, I don't have a gas stove, I don't have a gas dryer, HE DOES!!!!!!! We've been cooking on the grill to conserve the electric. I know why he is being this way. He ways laid off last week, due to not wanting to take a complete physical and blood test for a position at a better company. Now he has that 1100.00 car payment with full coverage insurance to pay for, a second mortage on the house and that big screen tv and now he goes and buys a 1000.00 computer system. It's not my fault his eyes are bigger then his wallet.
He wanted to go to the mountains this past weekend. Umm it was Father's Day and Emma had us over her house for a little cookout. Jim said to Joe, Cindy wants me to spend time with the kids sundaay. Joe tells Jim why don't you just throw her out, give her the kid and 90.00 week childsupport, that way you can go and do as you want. After all I have done for him, taking care of his mom when he had to work and his brothers and sister weren't around, this is what he tells Jim? Some fricken friend he is huh? Rebecca isn't allowed downstairs anymore because she got sick on his carpet and it stained it. Well, I asked him if he wanted me to use my steam cleaner on it, he said no. Plus the dumbass has white carpet. He's the idiot who fed my child hotdogs and chocolate milk right after she got over the flu.
As soon as my son in law gives me the ok, I am house hunting.
My birthday was nice. The teacher gave me a pretty card and 100.00, Emma and Dan bought me a new microwave, Jims parents sent me 25.00. Jim bought me 5.00 in powerball tickets, I LOST, LOL. And I got lots of ecards from all of you which I thank you so very much for. A beautiful card from LJ and one from my hairdresser Rick. We had hotdogs, BBQ Chicken, salad and cake.
There is 3 days of school left. This weekend I will make aan entry and post pics of my birthday and Rebecca's kindergarten graduation. I made video's. I just have to get them on an uncut video like you all do in your journal. I have no idea how, but I will try. I guess that is about it. I just needed to vent I hope I didn't offend anyone with what is going on at the school.

Summer is here
Hopefully I can get this entry made with no interruptions. Rebecca is asleep, the movie, "The Perfect Storm" is on the tv,perfect right? Wrong!!! Jim is talking to me. And what about? Ther service department at a Ford Dealership. Ummm, hello. Can we say boring, lol. How about my birthday, which is tomorrow. Yep, I will be 47 years young. But we ain't doing a thing. Don't have the money for something special. Although I think Emma is cooking us dinner tomorrow, not sure though.
Tomorrow at 9:15am, the kindergarten kids (4 classes of them) are performing 4 songs. Parents who want to watch the show are invited. You know I am going. So is Jim and Rebecca's sister Emma. It is called a Moving Up Concert, instead of a graduation concert. They will be singing the school song, Blue and Gold, God Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee, and a really cool song that goes, Start spreading the news, we're leaving today, we learned our abc's and 123's and learned all the rules, start spreading the news, we're going to first grade, we want to be a part of it, first grade, first grade. Rebecca sounds so cute singing it. She tries to hit high notes, then yawns, lol.
The past 2 weekends I have kept Adrianna, and Rebecca stayed at her sister's. Above is some pictures of my lil granddaughter. She's getting so big. She finally got a couple teeth. Two on the bottom. And wow is she cranky right before they come through. Anyways last weekend Dan and Emma took the kids, Marissa, Daniel and Rebecca to some Fair. A young lady walked up to Rebecca and Marissa and introduced herself and was talking to them a little bit. Then she pulled out 2 photographs of herself and aautographed them for the girls. They thought the lady was Miss America, lol, but it was Miss Southeastern Pennsylvania 2008, Jenna Knopsnyder. On the picture for Rebecca she wrote, Rebecca, Wish for the impossible. Love Jenna. And On Marissa's she wrote, Marissa, Stay beautiful. Love, Jenna. The girls are so proud of their autographed photo's.
I have so much more to write about, but I have not any privacy. Jim keeps walking over here. I hate when he reads over my shoulder. So I am going to cut this short. But before I go, I want to thank Lisa Jo for the lovely birthdaycard I received in the mail today, and also for the picture she sent of Rick and she and the kids. I love the picture and I am putting it in a frame tomorrow and sitting it here on my desk. I will try and make a longer entry over the weekend. Jim's going up to the cabin. Ahhhhhh, peace and quiet for sure, lol.

SHARING
More info
Today I spent the morning and part of the afternoon over Emma's house, keeping my eye on Marissa. She has to be monitored closely. Pulse taken and written down each hour. Meals, activities written down, but no physical exertion at all. No running, skipping, hopping, jumping, nothing to cause her any stress at all. She has to lay down 30 minutes every 1 1/2 hours so her ankles do not swell, which they were doing yesterday. She's experiencing numbness in her fingers, slight pains in chest when she is up and moving around, and the biggest issue is she cannot fall asleep. This child was up over 24 hours with no sleep. Finally Emma gave her a dose of her Benedryl for her allergies and it caused Marissa to finally fall asleep. Marissa has had an allergy problem since birth. They were at the hospital 12 hours, 5pm yesterday til 5am this morning. Marissa is all wired up to her monitor and she hates it. She says the glue stickers are itchy. The cardiologists office called Emma at 8:30 this morning. She has to go see him wednesday morning. They got her in quick. Marissa will be given an dye injection and have a cat scan and an ultra sound. She is going to have a complete blood work up also. The cardiologists said this type of thing just doesn't happen. It is something that happens before birth. And is rarely detected unless tests are done. She had 3 ECG's last night and all 3 showed abnormality. A specialists checked the results and his conclusion was Wolff Parkinson's White Disorder. He says wednesday after all tests are done and he has the results, he will talk to Emma and Dan about options, surgery being one of them. That means Marissa will be spending a few days in the hospital. The procedure is to burn off the vessels that should not be there, by going up through her upper leg area near her pelvic area.
I want to thank each of you so very much for all your prayers you've sent up for me and my family lately. With what's been happening the past year, we certainly can use them. Things gotta get better soon, right? I sure hope they do. Jim is real upset over this new issue with Marissa. He just left to go over to see her and let her know she is loved by her Poppop.
I won't know anything more until after she goes to see the doctor on wednesday. But as soon as I find out anything I will let you know right away.
Later tonight I have a ton of pictures and video's to post. Jim and I kept our baby grand daughter over night saturday night and Rebecca went to her sister's. Adrianna was sooooooo good for us. She slept all night from 10pm until 6am. I will be back reading your journals starting tonight. I bet I got alot to catch up on in your lives.
Tomorrow in class I am spending the whole day. I'm going to have the kids make get well cards for Marissa. She will like that alot. Well, time to cook dinner. I'll see ya all later tonight. And again Thank you so much for caring.
Love you all.........................CINDY
Prayers for Marissa
My 6 year old grand daughter was taken to the Childrens Hospital late last night. She was complaining of pain on her left side and numbness. She also complained of a headache, and was sweating real bad. The diagnosis is Marissa has something going on with her heart. She is on a heart monitor for the next 24 hours, and a cardiologists will be calling Emma to set up some appointments for Marissa to be seen by specialists. I will keep you posted on what happens. In the mean time here is something I found out about Wolff Parkinson's this morning.
What is the heart's normal condition?
In a normal heart, electrical signals use only one path when they move through the heart. This is the atrio-ventricular or A-V node. As the electrical signal moves from the heart's upper chambers (the atria) to the lower chambers (the ventricles), it causes the heart to beat. For the heart to beat properly, the timing of the electrical signal is important.
What is the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome?
If there's an extra conduction pathway, the electrical signal may arrive at the ventricles too soon. This condition is called Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW). It's in a category of electrical abnormalities called "pre-excitation syndromes."
It's recognized by certain changes on the electrocardiogram, which is a graphical record of the heart's electrical activity. The ECG will show that an extra pathway or shortcut exists from the atria to the ventricles.
Many people with this syndrome who have symptoms or episodes of tachycardia (rapid heart rhythm) may have dizziness, chest palpitations, fainting or, rarely, cardiac arrest. Other people with WPW never have tachycardia or other symptoms. About 80 percent of people with symptoms first have them between the ages of 11 and 50.
How is this syndrome treated?
People without symptoms usually don't need treatment. People with episodes of tachycardia can often be treated with medication. But sometimes such treatment doesn't work. Then they'll need to have more tests of their heart's electrical system.
The most common procedure used to interrupt the abnormal pathway is radiofrequency or catheter ablation. In this, a flexible tube called a catheter is guided to the place where the problem exists. Then that tissue isdestroyed with radiofrequency energy, stopping the electrical pathway. Successful ablation ends the need for medication. Whether a person will be treated with medication or with an ablation procedure depends on several factors. These include the severity and frequency of symptoms, risk for future arrhythmias and patient preference.
Wolff (Wolfe)-Parkinson-White (WPW) is a very rare cause of sudden death. It results from an additional electrical connection between the atria (upper chambers of the heart) and the ventricles (lower chambers of the heart). This extra or accessory electrical pathway is present in approximately 1.5 people per 1,000 people. It runs in families in less than 1% of cases. In the majority it is completely silent and only detected on a routine ECG. In a small proportion of patients the extra electrical pathway allows conduction of the electrical pathway generating an electrical circuit which produces a very rapid heart rate. Most patients tolerate this well but some experience very troublesome palpitations, light-headedness and blackouts. A very small minority of patients may die suddenly from ventricular fibrillation(<0.1% of patients).
Please say a prayer for Marissa.
Things just seem to get worse anymore when it comes to my family. It's like a curse is on us. I keep hoping and praying things will get better, but they only get worse. Does God even hear me?
I am home. I'm ok. Jim and I have talked and things are better between us.
