What can I say? Today was a great day. We picked up our 3 grandchildren at 11am this morning, and it was off to Leesburg, NJ to Grandmom's house. We arrived about 1:15 and stayed until 6pm. Jim's parents and his grandmom were so happy to see the kids again and the new baby. She was passed around alot, lol. But it was her great grandpop who held her and rocked her in his chair and they both fell asleep for about an hour. The kids gave lots and lots of hugs and kisses to everyone. They laughed and giggled, played with Harry and the cat's toys, lol. Jim and his Dad went and got 2 pizza's, and we had a late lunch. Man that pizza was good too.
We sat and chatted about all kinds of things. Jim's Mom gave Daniel a book about Christmas because he kept trying to read her books, lol. Jim's Dad gave Daniel a white firetruck with flashing lights, siren and a big red ladder. Talk about a happy lil boy. I think the best part of the whole day was when we were saying our goodbye's. I hugged Jim's grandmom and she gave me a big hug, kiss on the cheek and told me I was a wonderful Grandmom to the kids. Those words brought tears to my eyes, to have a lady such as her to compliment me. In this family she is the queen. You do not disrespect her in any way, shape or form. She is the law. It is how it's been the whole time I have been married to her grandson Jim. To think this wonderful woman of 99 years started a family that has multiplied enormously. She had 1 child, Jim's Mom. Jim's Mom had 5 children. Her 5 children together have 7 children, and my Emma being th firstborn grandchild and great grandchild has 3 kids. So Jim's 99yr old grandmother has 1 child, 5 grandkids, 7 great grandkids, and 3 great great grandkids. I am so glad and so very honored to be a part of this family. I love his parents and his grandmom with all my heart. Jim's Grandmom asked us to come back again soon. I told her we will, and we'll bring Emma and Dan with us next time. That made her very happy.
On the way home, Adrianna fell asleep as did Daniel. The girls sat and talked and giggled all the way home. Jim said I fell asleep. I guess I did. Cause I remember seeing a sign saying you are now leaving Vineland, and next thing I knew we were at the toll plaza to cross over to Philadelphia. I guess I needed a nap too huh? LOL Tomorrow is sunday. My plan is to sleep in hopefully, then clean my livingroom, and then put on a pot of Ham and Cabbage for supper and make some bisquits. I love ham and cabbage. I could eat it everyday.
Well, I guess that is about it for this entry. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
Love to all..................CINDY

Wow, that is something -- 99 years of age! Your story is similar to mine. My grandmother is 96 and had only one daughter. My mother. My mother had five children. I am one of the five children (#4). Of the five children (including blended family), she has 17 great-grandchildren. Of the 17 great-grandchildren, there have been six great-great grandchildren, and one more is on the way. Amazing how families grow with the love of one child. Pretty awesome in my book!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful visit and how marvelous that the Martriarch of the family is still alive. Rich's Mom is 94 and doing great. Only she had 8 kids and we lost count of the grands and great grands.I'd have to count them u[ and unfortunately ...too sleeppy. Glad you all had a good visit. Our granddaughters are HOME from AZ with their one week w/"Mom" and her new husband. They weren't too impressed.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of entries you've done I need to caatch up on! I'm trying. LOL
Take care and have a Happy & bountiful & blessed 2008.
Hugs, Barb

What a lovely visit you had. Jim is so lucky still having his mum and dad and also his grandma. The photos are gorgeous and a wonderful heirloom for time to come for the little ones in your family. Hugs, Tells x
ReplyDeleteI LOVED THIS.. I laughed at the pictures of everyone sleeping with the baby. I laughed because even though I was a young grandma I remember when Kait first went back to school and I was with Kyan all day and most of the early morning so she could rest he and I would take naps too. We slept many hours on my new couch until Mommy got home. I know what you mean about being complimented. John's grandmother and grandfather always told me I was an awesome wife to their only grandson and mother to their only great-grandchildren. WOW great-great-grandmother how many people get to see that. Glad you're taking pictures so the kids remember when they get older. That is to funny about the bird.
ReplyDeleteTake care and Hugs, Chrissie

Never noticed before but Adrianna is the dead spit (looks like) of Emma, and she's growing so fast.
