After what went on at Rebecca's school yesterday, my gut told me to leave her home today and that's exactly what I did. I get to her school yesterday and there's a crowd of high school students beating on the doors. Rebecca's teacher was lining up the students to come out the door. He opened the door a little and asked the group of high schoolers to wait outside the school yard behind the gate. Well one of the high schoolers charged at the teacher and started pushing him and hitting him. The little ones got scared and ran back into the class crying. The teacher was able to get away and get back into the class andd he closed the door and held onto it and got the phone and called 911. Meanwhile another student called got the door open a few inches reached in and tried to pull the phone cord out of the receiver. The teacher pulled the door close on his arm and he let go. They threatened to beat the teacher up, threatened to kill him, and the one who pulled the phone cord threatened to come back with a glock (gun) and start shooting. When one of the security people of the school came by, I quickly got my child and ran outside and got her into the van and away from the school. My poor child was shaking, crying, and asking why those kids were beating up the teacher. The teacher is a substitute, and is male and about 64 years old. These 2 high school kids were over 6ft tall. My heart was breaking seeing those lil ones inside the door crying and scared. I wanted to grab all of them and run, but my first thought was to get my baby out of there and home safe. I told Jim last night what had happened and he agree'd with me. It was best to keep Rebecca home today. Monday Ms. FitzPatrick comes back to the class. She is in Hawaii for a vacation with her family. I will inform her what went on. I think it will be best now to keep the door locked and have the parents pick up the kids outside after the bell rings. If they want to pick up the child early then they should do so through the office, and have a note.
Jim says as soon as our tax return is filed and into our account at the bank, to look for an apartment at an apartment complex. Now we just don't care about having a yard. I'll take her to a playground or over to Emma's to play outside. We're waiting on the w-2 from unemployment, then Jim can do our taxes. That money cannot come soon enough for me.
On another note, Guess who called Jim again asking him to come back? Yep Diamond. Jim said they must be desparate for help. They asked if the boss could call him tonight after work. Jim said sure, whatever. I told Jim if they want you back, tell them 25.00 an hour, you want to work 2 saturdays a month so you get OT and you want immediate medical coverage for all of us. You want a company van to bring home, because I need our van to take Rebecca back and forth to school. And he wants all this in writing and signed by the head of the company, shop manager, and foreman. I doubt they'll hire him back under those conditions, but if they don't it's ok. Jim has a good job now.
Well, that is it for now. I have some housework to do, and 200 alerts to read. I am getting to them, I've read about 12 already this morning. So if I haven't commented please know I will be soon.
Have a great day everyone................
Love to you all................Cindy
Those poor little ones having to witness that at school!

OMG....sissy is all okay?...I hope so please give rebecca a big huge hug and a kiss and tell her that her aunt nancy loves her
ReplyDeleteWell Cindy My kids wouldn't hav e gone to school today no way.Things are just getting too much nowadays.I do not know what the world is coming to.It is not much better if not worse here in England in some parts of the country. It's terryfying. If one wants to move home one wonders where to move to today to be safe.Thats the one thing I have where I live I feel secure and it means very much to me.I do hope it all goes away and the children are not affected in any way by this.Hope the poor teacher is feelign better and not traumatized. I also hope Dan is feeling better too.As for the conditions you told Jim to lay down to his old Emplyer you just did right LOL.Thats the way to do it Cindy.Prayers continueing for you all.Take Care God Bless Kath
ReplyDeleteummmm sissy i forwarded this one to momma so she could read iti may be leaving you another comment on this one FROM HER!
ReplyDeleteThat is so scary horrible. I hope that charges will be pressed and that the 64 year old man will be alright. And I hope he doesn't give up teaching. It's always been that you have to go through the office to get your kids here and can't come directly to the class room. It would be awesome for Jim to get a better offer. School system in Philly must be horrible considering the criminals the city produces. Katie is going to belong to a neighborhood homeschool program as it's getting really bad everywhere. You can't protect them from everything I know, and it wouldn't be good for her either. They're just too little to be subjected to that much upset. Poor Rebecca. I know you were great at calming her.

Well dear Cindy, you are having some time of it lately. I would have done the same thing though about school. Where on earth was the head of the school when all this was going on....I just don't know what things are comming to Cindy. It's getting almost as bad over here. I heard just today that Bristol the biggest town near here has the worst behaved children towards the teachers in England. Take care dear. Much Love sybil xx
ReplyDeleteYIKES!!!! yes I to would keep her home...did the police come??? hope all works out....thank the lord the kids were not hurt. poor rebecca hope she is doing better today.

I hope the older man will be ok and that they don't follow through with those threats to him or the school. That is terrible for things like that to happen. I don't blame you I would have kept Rebecca home today. I bet a lot of parents kept their children home. I hope it doesn't scare them so bad they will not want to go back. Makes you wonder what the boys were doing there anyway. Helen
ReplyDeleteOh my. I would be scared to take her back. What is this world coming to. Hope everthing will be OK. I do hope you are able to move.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you

How horrible for Rebecca to have witnessed this, you did right in keeping her home. I hope the supply teacher is ok, What has the school said about this incident and what measures are they going to take to see that does'nt happen again.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Yasmin
OMG thats horrible. I am glad you are moving away from that neighborhood. You will definately be a lot safer somewhere else. Those poor children having to see all that, scared out of their minds! I hope those teenagers get whats coming to them. They should be ashamed of themselves scaring all the poor kids not to mention trying to beat up a teacher.
ReplyDeleteCindy how awful that Rebecca had to see those students fighting with her teacher ~ and I would have turned tail and took her home too ~ don't think I would be to happy to let her go back there ~ I hope the school will be able to get some security put into place ~ I do hope you will be able to move and get her into another school ~ hope you have a good day ~ Ally x
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that happened in front of Rebecca. I hope she's not scared to return to school.
ReplyDeleteHere, they don't allow parents on campus of any school without going through the office now. It's been like that for years. I hope they do something to make her school safe.
Good luck to Jim on the job! I hope he gets it with all of his demands.
Pam
The police need to be at the school when kids at the start of the day and the end...here they have a police officer assigned to each school..they are there all day....those poor kids are probably terrified ...how do you get a child to get over that...so sad...that school needs to upgrade their protection for the kids...
ReplyDeleteAlarms on the doors...security cameras...there are ways to protect the kids...that poor substitute teacher is probably devastated for life...
I will pray you all find a new place as soon as your money is in and get her in another school....that is just crazy!!!
Peace--Ellie
Well Sis, I am horrified to know she is going at that school, I know right now it is the only choice, but man you have got to get out of there ASAP and I know your working on that. And you know, Jim has a TONS Of bargaining on HIS end, and I would do everything you said and take nothing less, and if they agree to it all, get it written up in a contract and have it signed and then only then would I quit my current job. But I would insist on a contract.
ReplyDeleteLove you
Ang

ReplyDeleteHow scary that must have been! I hope you can get moved soon and get Rebecca into a safer school.
