In Memory of my Mother

I JUST I WOULD ADD THIS PICTURE TO AN ENTRY. THIS IS ME WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD AND THE RED HEADED LITTLE GUY IS MY YOUNGEST BROTHER PAUL. HE GREW UP WITHOUT A MOM, CAUSE OUR MOM DIED SOON AFTER HE WAS BORN OF CERVICAL CANCER, SO GLUED TO ME HE WAS CONSTANTLY. WHEN HE WAS 7YRS OLD I TOLD HIM HE HAD TO STOP CALLING ME MOMMY, CAUSE I WAS NOT HIS MOMMY, I WAS HIS BIG SISTER. HE CRIED AND CRIED AND CRIED, BUT EVENTUALLY HE REALIZED I WAS'NT MOMMY. MY MOM FOUND OUT SHE HAD CANCER THE SAME TIME SHE BECAME PREGNANT WITH PAUL. THE DOCTOR SAID SHE NEEDED TO HAVE AN ABORTION, SO TREATMENT FOR HER CANCER COULD BEGIN. SHE REFUSED AN ABORTION, SHE TOLD THAT DOCTOR, GOD BLESSED HER WITH ANOTHER CHILD AND SHE WOULD HONOR GOD BY HAVING THAT CHILD, NO MATTER WHAT. SHE DIED 11 MONTHS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO PAUL. WHEN HE WAS 3 MONTHS OLD SHE WENT INTO HOSPITAL, HER BODY GOING FAST, SHE CAME HOME 2 WEEKS BEFORE SHE DIED FOR ONLY 2 DAYS, THAT WAS TO SEE HER 6 CHILDREN AND SAY GOODBYE. THIS MONTH IS THE ANNIVERSARY OF HER DEATH. TO HONOR HER I'M ENCLOSING A POEM I WROTE A WHILE BACK IN HER MEMORY. IT'S JUST A SHORT LITTLE POEM.

MOM:

It's been many years, since I saw you last

the memories I once had of you

one by one their fading fast

a few remembered memories

ones I hold so dear

are the ones I'm sitting beside you

and your holding me so near.

why did you have to leave me

I really want to know

I was to young to be alone

why did you have to go.

  4. What a beautiful poem to honor your mother with.  My mother passed away when I was 24, and she was a mere 57.  It was heartbreaking, because she was taken so quickly.  She died of a full cardiac arrest.

I wish I could see the picture you put up, but its says that it's not available or has been removed.

    hugs

  5. I was wondering if you had requested a quilt square for the AOL Journals Memorial Tribute Quilt for your mother.  If you haven't please visit
http://journals.aol.com/xxroxymamaxx/XXRoxyMamaXX/entries/2006/08/06/an-aol-journals-celebration-and-memorial-quilt/1487 and leave a comment with your mother's info so I can make one for you.  And what a beautiful poem!  Hugs and GBU, Shelly

  13. I'm disappointed I can't see the pictures. But look at you I leave for a couple of weeks and you're doing big things...LOL. Sorry about your mom. My mother died of cervical cancer also. She was only like 24 years old and she left behind six children that got adopted out by different people. I was always terrified when I got close to being 24 I always thought I was gonna die too. Everytime I went to the doctor I held my breath thinking I hope they don't find anything. Loved the poem for your mom. As you can see I'm trying to catch up.
    Take care, Chrissie
