Have I told you lately how much I hate the city of Philadelphia. Why did I ever move out of New Jersey? So, I go to the school this morning. And guess what? Oh, kindergarten? We're all full for that grade. What??????????? Are you a registered member of our church? Well, no we're not. Oh you have to be a registered member in order to attend any grade here. No one told me this crap yesterday. So that plan, flushed down the toilet. I call back the school 2 blocks from me. I practically beg, even offer to pay for Rebecca to attend their school. Sorry we can't help you. In tears now, beat fist on table and hurt thumb, nice........GRRRRRRRRR. Call Superintendent of Education number I was given by school. We're sorry but the number you have dialed is not in service. Try it again dialing slow to make sure I had right number, we're sorry the number you have dialed is not in service. Then call Assistant Superintendents office. We're sorry but the number you have dialed has been changed to a non published number. WTH???????????????? Get out yellow pages again. Find a Baptists Christian School 20 minutes from me. K through 8 Grades. Only problem is there is 1 classroom for each grade and kindergarten is full. But if a cancellation comes up they will notify me. Their sending me the paper work, tuition fee's, etc to fill out and mail back to them. She said there can be a 2 month wait or longer to get Rebecca into class there. Home School? Can't get ahold of school officials to find out about it. So I have nother choice but to register my child in that bad school until she gets into the Baptists school. Uniforms needed, navy blue pants and white shirts. And school doesn't start for her until September 24. Stress free when she's in school, no way.......................... I'll be even more stressed. Neighbors may call police and say there's a stalker outside, but ut may be me watching school from my van.
Love to all..................Cindy
I am shocked to hear that the catholic school is only for parishoners. What happened to having her go to Emma's school????? Any chance of homeschooling her until you move????
ReplyDeleteI feel so horrible for you, this is just awful. I will keep you in my prayers sis.
Love you
Sis
I can't beleive it's SO difficult for you to get Rebecca in to the school of your choice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bloody nightmare!
Gaz
What about sending her to school giving Emmas address? Or even home schooling? Thought you were considering those? Sorry the Catholic School didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteI gave my Moms address on a couple of occassions to send my kids to better schools, only problem was I had to manage their transportation my self, but otherwise worked out ok.
Good luck,
Sugar
I wondered if the Nuns would make you join their church. That's their way.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this is soooo difficult. Maybe you will have to use Emma's addy for awhile until something else works out. I don't know.
Keep us posted and you are in my thoughts.
Love ya,
Pam xoxox
Oh Cindy I am so sad for you. I do hope that there is some good solution just round the corner. What did you say about home tuition ? that would surely be better than that bad school at least till you could fins a better school. You are in my prayers. Sybil xx
ReplyDeleteHi {{{Cindy}}}
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you have had such a rotten day! Sit down and breathe deep for a moment-take a five for yourself.
OK, Here is the name of my Home School Website
http://groups.msn.com/toolsforhomeschoolingandunitstudy
When you get there look to the left and you'll see "State Regulations" #2. Click on the link that says "Sites for national state by state laws & local support. #3. Click on the link that comes up. #4. When it opens-look onto the left side and click National State & local support-click on your state and everything and everyone you need to contact to home school will be right there.
I really hope this will help you. I think I mentioned before, that I home schooled our daughter Brittany for 11 years and she walked as a home schooler with a legal High School Diploma. After Brittany graduated "05" I missed home schooling. So I created this site for other HS moms.
If you need any more help just e-mail me @ LadyMagnolia1963@aol.com
Blessings,
Donna
you can be a classroom mom. That way you will be there. make yourself constantly available to the classroom so you can be right there in case something happens at the bad school.
ReplyDeleteYou have had a terrible day. you need to treat yourself in some way!
tina
Oh Cindy, I am so sorry that your day as gone so bad. I hope and pray that you find a better solution for Rebecca. If you know someone that lives in the good schools distric, try to arrange to use their address.
ReplyDeletelove ya,
carlene
Cindy, I know how worried you are about sending Rebecca to that other school. Just be patient... and take it to the Lord in prayer. It will work out.. You'll see. Just don't get all stressed out and put negativity out there. Think positive and positive things will happen for you. I truly believe that.
ReplyDeletePrayers for you.. and Rebecca..
Hugs
jackie
Oh no... I am so sorry... how close are you to the NJ border? No homeschool rules here... no one to notify. It is heaven. {{{ Cindy }}}
ReplyDeleteI hope that the Baptist school has an opening soon. Or maybe you can make an appeal to them in person... go full out, cane/walker... use all your tools fellow invisible illness pal!
Praying...
be well,

WOULDN'T IT BE EASY TO JUST EITHER HOME SCHOOL HER OR USE EMMA'S ADDRESS INSTEAD OF GETTING SO STRESSED OUT, I WOULDN'T SEND HER TO A BAD SCHOOL, NOT UNLESS YOU WANT HER BEAT UP, OR TO COME HOME WITH BLACK EYES,
ReplyDeletepraying it works out for you
ReplyDeleteDeb
Awwwwwww Cindy I am so sorry about this, praying for you, Hugs Lisa XOXO
ReplyDeleteContact HSLDA.org for info on homeschooling in your state. It maybe as simple as sending a letter to the school board and getting your curriculum. here is the link you can copy and paste. I run two state homeschooling websites in ky and they will help you get started finding out what the laws are in your state
ReplyDeleteI just looked it up on HSLDA here is the link
ReplyDeletehttp://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=PA
Its pretty simple in your state. You need a highschool diploma and to send a letter to the board of educatoin and do the curriculm it tells you such as math eng. and so forth. would highly suggest paying 115 a year to HSLDA to rep you incase of any legalities and they do a wonderful job and you are not charged a penny more than that. Its like insurance on your car or home. You may never use it but if you need it you sure are glad you have it. I mean 115 a year is not much really
Aw.....Cindy.....sorry you got bad news. I hope the link from the commenter below will help ya out for now until you can get her in another school. I'll be praying.

I'm so sorry. I know you didn't want her in that school. Hopefully you can get in the other school sooner then expected. I hope so. Hugs and prayers to you.
ReplyDeleteCheck out www.mypavcs.org. It's a virtual charter school. Recommended # 1 in the state. They supply the computer, all materials. They use the curriculum K12 which I use for Brandon. Rebecca loves the computer and I think she would love school on the computer too. At least for kindergarten I would give it a try.
ReplyDeleteMissie
{{{Cindy}}} My heart just goes out to you. I pray that everything will work out for you. Many hugs to you.
