I am so mad right now. I just finally got in touch with the school less then 2 blocks from me that I was told by a few people Rebecca would go too. Well, I was told Rebecca could not go there. Their cut-off was just right across the street from me. And she would have to go to a school which is 9 blocks from me. WTF!!!!!!!!!!! And that school has a reputation for being a bad school. No Way, my kid is not going to that school. No fricken way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to send this child to a school where the kids are out of control and the teachers are afraid of their own students. I am really hating philadelphia right now and their stupid cut-off locations. So now I have some thinking to do.
1. Should I just send her to that bad school? Nope.
2. Should I use my daughter's address and let her go to my grand daughter's school? It is in a nicer area.
3. Should I start the process of homeschooling her? I did this with my daughter Emma.
Gonna have a talk with Emma and with Jim about this.
Guess how stressed I am right now? On a scale of 1 to 10, my stress level is 9999999999999999999999999999999. Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
No way do you send her to that bad school! Whatever you decide it must be in her best interests. I would be as mad as hell also.
ReplyDeleteSIS ITS A GOOD IDEA TO HOME SCHOOL BECCA, EMMA CAME OUT SMARTER BECCA CAN TOO, THAT WAY YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND IT ON SCHOOL SUPPLIES, YOU CAN EITHER TAKE THE BOOK BAG BACK, OR LET MARRISSA USE ITANYWAY I HAVE A GIRLFRIEND IN NAPLES HOME SCHOOLING HER DAUGHTER, AND SHE LOVES IT, TIKA GETS TO GO TO FIELD TRIPS, MOVIES, WHILE OTHER KIDS ARE IN SCHOOL, BESIDES I THINK THEY LEARN MORE BEING HOME SCHOOLED.
ReplyDeleteI think there are more and more parents home schooling nowadays for just the same reason you have explained here.Go for it.Don't send her to the one they ahve allocated.I would be Losing my marbles with anger I think, just like you sound.I hope everything works out for you.Take Care Gos Bless Kath

I remember, way back when, I had to use my mothers address a couple of times to get my kids into good schools that were closer to me. Weird how they hae this regulations that don't make sense!
ReplyDeleteSo, use dtrs address or homeschool, but don't send her to a bad school!!! {{{}}}

Do you have school of choice in your state? Check into it. You need to send that girl to school so you get a break in the day.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
You prob cant use #2
ReplyDeletebecause we had some people in HS back when I went to HS in MS, and they got caught using a different address so they could go to the school I went to, who I became friends with lol...... and they had to go to the highschool in the next city, Because someone opened their mouth and snitched that they didnt have the right address and LCS made them move heh

good luck sissy ...i'm at a loss for what to say
ReplyDeleteYIKES! I don't know what to say on this. I wonder if you went and talked to the principal and explained how you only have one car, and you are disabled, and that she NEEDS to go to this school. They may make an exception. I'd try anyway.
ReplyDeleteOR....you can call an attorney and see what your legal recourse would be.
My son has been in private school. Expensive, but they don't go by where you live. So I never dealt with that stuff. What a pain in the ASS, huh?
Love you honey. Just take it easy. It's gonna work out.

Cindy I hope you will able to sort out Rebecca's school ~ I would not want to send her to a bad one and like you I would be very angry ~ Ally x
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't send her to a bad school either. Man I wish you all were able to move.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Chrissie
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this. No, I wouldn't send her to the bad school either. I'm wishing you the best of luck! {{{Cindy}}}

You've got a big decision to make! I can't believe that they won't take Rebecca. What happens if you just move into the neighborhood? They don't let the student start? Take your time thinking out the decision.
ReplyDeleteMissie
That SUCKS. I would use Emma's address and say you all live together. What a pain that it's farther. I personally would do that though.

Sis
I am so sorry to hear of your latest dilemma. I don't blame you one bit for being pis%*d off. I'm with you, I would not send Rebbeca to the "Bad" school. Life is hard enough on children today. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless.

I'd say homeschool her (not that you're asking for opinions), for the fact that I wouldn't want her going to a bad school (well and we homeschool, so I'm all for it! LOL).
ReplyDeleteI can't and don't lie, I just am horrible at it, which is a good thing and figure if I do it and then turn around and get after my kids for it, I'm just a huge hypocrit. I'd also be worried I'd get caught, I watched Dateline or something like that a couple yrs ago where they were showing people being checked out on doing that (lying about where they lived, giving a relatives address so their child could go to a certain school) and them getting caught.
I'd definately pray over it and let God lead you.
many people that i know would use someone else's address to get her in the right school...you just have to hope the mailman doesn't tell them you dont live there.....i know all about schools having cut off areas.....i hope whatever you decide it works out! I bet she'd like to go to school and have playmates there but maybe you can get her involved in some activities somehow if you decide to homeschool.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, lj
I homeschooled three of my kids one year. Maybe that explains alot about me, lol. I'd try to use Emma's address if you don't feel comfortable. I'd trust your Mother's Instinct every time.

Awwwww Cindy I'm so sorry hon, Hugs Lisa
ReplyDeleteI dont' know what to say, I hope you work it out for Rebecca to go to the closer school.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Ellen
yeah these are some of the reasons I homeschooled BOTH my girls. They are now teachers at a private school and one provides respit for a part time job for special needs children. It was the best decision I have made and they plan to homeschool thier children too.
ReplyDeleteHome schooling is good, but I feel bad for kids, because they don't get a chance to socialize or interact with other children their age. Unless you get her involved in Brownies, or some kind of social gathering involving other kids.
ReplyDeleteI vote for using Emma's address. Just my opinion though.. :) You know what is best for Rebecca! :)

We have the same problems over here too......... All it takes in some good for nothing local council worker that sits in an office and doesn't see the bigger picture.
