My Hobbies

I have so many hobbies I love to do such as, cooking, crocheting, embroidery, reading VC. Andrews books, taking pictures, playing on my computer. But I think my most favorite hobby is post card collecting. I love post cards, and the older they are the better I like them. I've been collecting them for about 20 years now. Some were given to me, some were found by me. The ones I have are from 1950 to 1973. I need to buy some sort of album to keep them in. Right now I have them in an envelope. But anyways, I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to share some of my favorite postcards with you. I have about a 100 of them, but I won't bore you with all of them. The first 3 were given to me by my brother.

This first one is the statue of David, who gives you the look as though he is concentrating. It was started in 1501 and was finished in 1504. The artist was MICHELANGELO BUONARROTI. He was born in Caprese, Italy in 1475 and dies in 1564.

This next one was done by the same artist in 1520 and finished in 1534. It is called The Virgin And Child also known as MEDICI MADONNA. The detail in this is just awesome.

Here is another of this artists master pieces. It is called the Tomb of Julius II: Moses. This statue was started in 1505 and wasn't finished until 1545. The detail and hard word BUONARROTI put into his work is just amazing. Can you imagine starting a project and having it take 40 years to finish? Amazing, just amazing.

I hope you enjoyed these postcards and a little bit of their history. I have more to share, but photo bucket and my computer are going slow and I have DSL, grrrrrrrr. So gonna restart computer and will come back and show you more of my favorites.

Til then.......................choi

From a dear friend in Roanoke Va, Linda

PURPLE  HATS
In honor of women's history month and in memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer. Here is an "angel" sent to watch over you. Pass this on to five women that you want watched over. If you don't know five women to pass this on to, one will do just fine.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner." There would have been more "I love you's" More "I'm sorry's."
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it. live it and never give it back.

STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.  Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.
Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with
and what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally. I hope you have a blessed day.

If you don't mind, send this on to all the women you are grateful to have as friends. Maybe we should all grab that purple hat earlier. Please send this to five phenomenal women today in celebration of Beautiful Women's Month. If you do, something good will happen--you will boost another woman's self esteem .
Sent with love.

What A Day and more..................

I just love that above picture. It is my new screen saver. Rebecca wants me to change her's too. Well, Rebecca and I had a busy morning. We went to the bank to deposit Jim's paycheck. Starting next week, his pay will go in by way of direct deposit, which is fine by me, cause I hate driving down Castor Ave here in Philadelphia, Too many dag on stop lights. Then we went to Mayfair shoppinf center to the Shop N Bag where I could not find a place to park. Not one single spot was there to park. I got so agrivated and went to the ACME instead. Where I did find a parking spot, but found the store so crowded. Did everyone have to be in the same isle I was in, jeez. It seemed like where ever I was in the store they were all going the same direction. And when I got to the check out isle's guess what I found? Yep, you got it, everyone checking out at the exact time I was. Ok, there is 4 self check out lanes, 2 12 items or less isle's and 9 regular isle's. But were they all opened during this rush of people out shopping thinking there was going to be some major blizzard in Philly tonight and tomorrow? HELL NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only regular isle's open for about 60 or more people with over flowing shopping carts were isle's 9 and 10. I got into isle 10, after a quick glance at the carts in isle 9. There was 11 people in front of me with full carts. In about 5 minutes there was about 6 people in back of me. After standing in line for 20 minutes and left in front of me now was 2 people, some young whipper snapper who think's she knows everything, tells the cashier, close your isle, and proceeds to tell us to go to next cashier. HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I don't think so. Before she could open her mouth again I let her have it. I have been standing here in this line for over 20 minutes, got down to 2 people ahead of me and now you want me to move to the next isle where there is about 10 people ahead of me, are you fricken nuts? I told her go get your boss cause I refuse to talk about this to a child, who has probably never even been grocery shopping by herself in a crowded store. The cashier, who is an older lady and has worked there for many years told the girl, she will close when her line is done, and the girl walked away. I'm there spending 147.98 in groceries and she wants me to move over, yea right, so play with your barbie doll's little girl. Grrrrrrrrrr, I swear today was just not my day. Everywhere I went I got so annoyed. I wasn't just shopping in case we did get some storm, I needed things like milk, bread, eggs, diet pepsi, but then spotted all the buy1 get 1 sales and couldn't pass them up. Speaking of shopping, yea ok I been ranting about it here, lol, but a while back I posted a recipe that called for Cake Flour. I bought some today cause I am going to bake a homemade cake, and this is the cake flour I was talking about.

It makes the best cakes too. Emma and Dan are planning on having a big reception type party after the baby is born, because they didn't have one when they got married last year, and I want to make their wedding cake for it. I have to go to Walmart and get the pan set to make it yet. I'll take a pic of it when I am done and you can tell me what you think. It won't be for about 2 weeks, I want to get the rest of the things I need first.

As we were shopping I needed olive oil. Found some on sale regulary 7.99 but on sale for 5.49 and it came with a coupon for a free box of Brownie mix. Of course Rebecca is all for a brownie, and says I have to take her picture showing you all what I am going to make her tonight. So, here's the little stinker showing off her brownie mix.

Please ignore her yellow face. She was eatting cheese curls. So, tonight is brownie night, I suppose.

Well, Jim had off from his job today, but he was asked by Joe's brother if he wanted to work today up in Long Beach Island putting handrails up on the roof of some beach house. Of course Jim doesn't pass up an opportunity to make money, so that's where he is, along with Joe. He took picture's and emailed them to me from his cellphone. The first one is a view of the beach from the rooftop, the second is Jim waving hi to Rebecca ( I told him to send that one to me so she could see her daddy) and the third one is Uncle Joe and a view of the homes from the rooftop. I love Long Beach Island. We have gone there many times in the past to the beach. So here goes those pics.

I guess I will go now. I hope no one get's a nasty storm and there's no snow for anyone. And if anyone know's where Mother Nature has put spring, will you please let me know. I am just soooooooooooo sick of cold nasty weather. My body ache's from the cold. I need warm sunshine, open windows, fresh air. Have a good weekend all.

PS. Before I go, What hobby do you enjoy the most?

Hint: This will be my next entry with pics, lol.

Tired, In Pain and stressed

It's been a few days since I made an entry, so I thought I'd pop in for a few minutes. This dang shoulder of mine is giving me problems again, but only now the pain has gone up into my neck and down into my wrist. It's the same side my cancer was and where I had the surgery. I have been checking it closely to make sure there is no swelling or lumps. It could be that the nerves that were cut are finally healing and now I'm able to feel the pain where I had no feeling before. I just took me a couple Tylenol Arthritis tablets. There 650mg each so they work pretty good. I also went out to the store tonight and got some IcyHot cream to rub on it. That stuff felt so good and actually helped. But it's wearing off now, so I'll need more soon. It feels like I am losing all strength in my right arm. I can barely pick up my grandson now. He puts his little arms out to me and says, "Up Mommom up". And I have to use my left arm to pick him up. It really sucks when you right handed. I tried to do dishes today and I just gave up on it. It is real hard trying to do dishes with one hand. I will get them done tomorrow. Man I need a dishwasher. I did get my livingroom cleaned. It took me 4 hours. I even washed walls and windows in livingroom, which is probably why I am suffering tonight. I didn't cook dinner tonight. I went and got some cold cuts and rolls. Just wasn't in the mood to cook dinner, and tomorrow I am not cooking either, it's friday and I get the night off.

Well, Rebecca has caught another cold. She has running nose, watery eyes, sore throat, coughing. And talk about miserable. I gave her some medicine tonight, rubbed her with vick's and put her in warm jammies, which were footsie jammies, but she made me cut the feet out because she said they giver her........ya ready for this? She gets SOCKITIS, if she wears jammies with feet in them, lol. She's sitting on the potty going peepee before bed, and says, Mommy, I'm sure glad you cut the feet off these jammies, cause I don't wanna get the sockitis. I laughed so hard. I even heard Jim laughing in the livingroom. This kid is a trip.

Tomorrow I will torture myself again. I am going to clean out the hall closet, so I can store some things from the bedroom in there. If I don't clean that bedroom, I'll be needing a sign saying, Enter atyour own risk, put on the door. I am serious, it is trashed. And it's blankets, toys, books, stuffed animals. I have to put some of it away, there's just too much. Rebecca isn't happy about it, but I told her after we get moved and she has her own room, she can have all her toys in her room. So, she's ok with it for now, I hope.

Monday my daughter goes to the doctor's. On May 1st she is having another ultrasound. The doctor said her due date just isn't right. She said she thinks Emma is a little more farther along then she thinks. So maybe just maybe if the baby is turned properly we might find out what the sex is.

My niece Sharon is due in 4 weeks to have her baby girl. She has been having alot of low abdominal pain and is dilated 2 centimeters. It's probably false labor. This is her second baby. I have a big box to mail to her this weekend for the baby.

Well, guess that's about it for now. Hope your all having a nice evening.

Love to all...................CINDY

More pics of Eden

My nephew Eddie and his girlfriend Chrissy, stopped over after they had dinner at Chrissy's fathers house yesterday. They brought along more pictures of the baby. Eden is still in the hospital, but he is doing so much better. Their weining him off the methydone, by giving him morphine which they are now weining him off of that also. It should be about 3 weeks more and he can finally come home. Chrissy is on the methydone program, and little Eden got it while she was pregnant. Chrissy has 2 weeks left and she's done. She is so mad at herself. She says to me last night, I'm a screwup and now my babyboy has to suffer. I was going to give her a big lecture, but I decided against it. She knows what her drug use did to her life and now her son's, and I know she is sorry. All that matters now, is that the baby gets well, and is released from the hospital to be with Mommy and Daddy at his new home, and of course at Great-Aunt Cindys house too, heehee. I scanned a bunch of pics, so I will enter them now. He is just so darn cute. The first 3 pics are the day he was born.

Eden's big sister Kaylei.

He was falling asleep in that picture.

Eddie and his 2 kids, Kaylei and Eden.

This is Katie (Kaylei's Mommy) holding Eden. And Kaylei too.

Look at him, he's so darn cute. I told Eddie he looks just like he did when he was a baby, a lil chipmunk. This baby as young as he is has really bonded with Eddie. he hears Eddie's voice and turns his head and smiles, he already loves his daddy. And daddy is the only one who can get him to burp. Chrissy has tried and tried but he won't burp for her. He will lay in Eddies arms and hold his daddy's finger and stare up at his daddy the whole time he's being held by him. I can't wait to hold him.

Ok, gotta go. Time to go downstairs and get Mommom I so we can go to Emma's. For those of you who don't know. Mommom I is our friend Joes Mom. My kids and grandkids called Joe and his mom Uncle Joe and Mommom I.

Have a wonderful day.
