Winding down my day

I am so glad today is over. I am tired, hurting and ready to get into my bed real soon. I just wish this nagging and annoying pain would go away. I took 2 Tylenol Arthritis capsules, it helped some, but the pain is still there. It's just in one little spot under right shoulder, but closer to spinal cord. And another pain on front in rib cage on right side. Jim says I sit too long at computer, that's why I'm having the pain. Maybe I do, but since I can't sit on my own couch due to it being so fluffy and I sink in and feel as though I am losing my breath, I have no choice but to sit in computer chair. Or I go into the kitchen and sit at the table.

My sore throat and hurting lungs are almost completely healed. I have taken the antibiotic for 5 days now. I am going to continue taking them for another 5 days, just  to make sure it does not come back. Since I went back on blood pressure medication, the fingers on my left hand stopped going to sleep or numb. Do they go numb or tingle when you have high blood pressure? I was always diagnosed with low blood pressure or normal to low border.

Well, I think I will make this short and go to bed. This body needs to lay down. Not only am I a grandma, but I feel like one now, lol. I find myself falling asleep alot. I can sit at computer, fall asleep, sit at kitchen table, fall asleep. Rebecca wakes me up when I do that. She smacks my arm and says, Mommy wake up, it's daylight now, no sleeping. I need a good night's sleep, tonight, cause tomorrow Emma and Dan and the kids are coming over for dinner. I am making the turkey we got free at grocery store. Jim said he didn't have turkey for left over turkey sandwiches, so I am cooking another one, lol. I told Emma christmas dinner will be a ham dinner and Lasagna. Cause after this turkey tomorrow, I won't want to look at another one, lol. Well, goodnight all, sweet dreams.

Our tree and a special package

Well, there it is, our tree. It turned out a little dark so you can't really see the little wooden ornaments and other decorations on it. Now if I can only keep my child from getting under it saying she is hiding in the forest, lol. She has already knocked one branch off and I had to put it back on and the bottom strand of lights also. She asked how come it doesn't smell like the ones outside. It's fake honey, it don't smell. She then tells me we should spray it with airfreshener so it can have a smell, lol. I just put the lil stinker to bed. When she gets over tired she is a handful. 8:pm comes and it's bedtime. I didn't tell her the Eagles were on tonight, cause if I did she would want to stay up and watch them, I don't think so, no way, mommy and daddy need a bit of quiet time.

I want to remind everyone of The Giving Tree, founded by Angie/CanyonSun. This is a wonderful thing she has put together. If it weren't for her and the help she gave me when Jim lost his job, we wouldn't of eatten for a few days. But thanks to her we had a hot meal and Rebecca had snacks. Also she helped me with gifts for Rebecca for christmas. Angie is such a great lady. Please email her at CanyonSun04@aol.com and see if there is a way you can help someone in need this christmas season or with food. There is so many people out there who struggle on a daily basis to just put a roof over their heads or food on the table and have nothing left over to buy shoes, or a warm coat or a pair of mittens for their child. I know how it feels to worry about having something for your child to eat or worrying if there is even gonna be a christmas this year.

I want to share a couple pictures with you of my Rebecca. She received a package in the mail friday, from a very special friend here in JLand. I have been asked not to give out the name of the person, so out of respect for our friendship I cannot say who this special person is. I do want this person to know, that we think this person is awesome.Rebecca loved the beautiful gifts, and I loved mine also. Yep, I got gifts also. A beautiful little vase and 2 bags of the most wonderful smelling potpourie. I know I spelled that wrong, lol. Rebecca received a hummingbird feeder and food, which we are going to save for spring to hang outdoors when we are moved. She got a beautiful soft as cotton puppy, a bunch of art items like colored pencils, crayons, glitter pens, paper tablet and a beautiful Princess Rapunzel Barbie. She will be drawing and coloring in pictures of birds and turtles to send to this special person. So here she is:

Just look at her smile, is that precious or what? Here is another pic of her closer up, but the smile faded, because I was in the way of her watching tv, lol.

Well there's my lil girl. And her gifts she received. Tomorrow Rebecca and I will spend some time at the table drawing and coloring. She loves it when I join her in things like that. She loves drawing and coloring. She gets that from her Daddy. He is very good at oil painting, and he went to school to be an architect but never persue'd it. So, a great big thank you goes out to the person who sent these lovely gifts. We love you.

Well, all day today I have had this nagging sharp pain on the right side of my back between shoulder blade and back bone. It just won't let up. So, I think I am going to go take myself a very hot shower and put the shower head on massage and let it hit my back for a while. So take care everyone and have a wonderful evening and an even better tomorrow.

I would like to thank Debbie of Derasta Creation for this lovely name tag.

Mommy's lil helper

Good evening. Hope everyone had a wonderful day today. My day was very nice. Rebecca and I put up the christmas tree and decorated it. She was so thrilled when I told her to go ahead and start putting on the ornaments. She did a very good job at it. She hung ornaments up as high as she could reach, and I did the rest. I took a picture of it with Jim's cellphone camera, but now I can't figure out how to email it to me. I'll have to wait until Jim get's up or until tomorrow morning to have him email the pic to me. My livingroom is all decorated. Looks like Santa's workshop in here. Rebecca was so tired from all the decorating, she asked to go to bed tonight, lol.

I started filling out my christmas cards. Got me a long list of Jland friends to send a card too, and I am so happy about it. I love sending and receiving cards on christmas. So, if you want to join in on the fun of exchanging cards, drop me an email with your address and I will reply with my address.

I made a nice hot dinner tonight. Jim loved it and was so full he had to go lay down. I fixed a pot roast, with carrots celery and onions cooked in with it, it came out so tender. Also made mashed potato's, gravy, green beans and a cucumber salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, yummy.

I was able to catch up on a few of my alerts today. Went from 80 alerts down to 55. I will get to more of them tomorrow. The antibiotic I am on is great. After just 2 doses I can already feel the difference in my throat and chest. The pain is just about gone in the throat. I will keep taking the medicine until it is gone, just to be sure. I think I am going to sign off now and get ready for bed. I am tired tonight and my body is hurting. My bed and soft covers sound really good right now. Hope you all have a wonderful sunday.

Thank you Donna for my lovely tag, it is so cool.

Thanksgiving Day

I made a beautiful dinner. Turkey, stuffing, honey baked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, greenbeans, coleslaw, macaronni salad, cranberry sauce, baked yams with melted marshmallows, deviled eggs, pumpkin pies, applecrumb cobbler with cool whip, coffee, iced tea, soda's. Those volture's ate it all too, they ate so much they all looked like stuffed turkey's themselves, lol. And here are those voltures who gobbled up poor ole turkey and his buddy ham.

Rebecca on her daddy's back, man she looked tired, lol.

My little man Daniel

Walter, one of Dan's brothers.

Grand daughter Marissa

I swear this man will do anything for this child, lol. This is proof, he spoils her wrotten, lol.

My daughter Emma, who is my right arm most the time, and also my rock.

My nephew Eddie and his 5 1/2 month pregnant girlfriend Chrissy. He's planning on getting her a ring soon. Hmmmm we'll see how that goes, lol.

Daddy Dan and Marissa, he loves this little girl.

Dan and another of his brother's. This one is Michael, and that is Marissa's cat Peanut near Michael.

Daddy and Rebecca, oh yea and Uncle Walt's butt, lol.

My wild child, Rebecca.

And here I am, after 2 days of cooking, hardly any sleep and sick as a dog, I survived ThanksgivingDay. You can really tell I was tired and sick. Crawling in under my covers last night felt so darn good.

I hope everyone had a wonderful dinner and spent quality time with your family and friends. I had a great time, watching everyone eat and enjoy the meal I prepared, hearing their laughter, watching the kids wrestle and boss around their daddy's, the whimps, lol. I got 2 marriage proposals and a will you be my mommy too, lol. It was a blast. I wanted to take pics of all the food, but those voltures ate it all before I could get the film in the camera, lol. Oh well, maybe christmas I'll get those pics.

I have a whole mess of journal alerts to read. So, If I haven't commented lately to you, please know I will soon. Have a wonderful evening and an even better weekend.

My Doctor Appt

Went to the doctor's, was seen right away. Nurse took one look at me and said your in next. Doctor Garfield comes in and takes one look at me and say, your sick, your really sick. No shit, I said, lol. He checks lungs with stethoscope, yep full of fluid, he can hear it clearly, checks throat, very red and raw, says cough, did so, says take a deep breath, lungs like to of exploded and I choked. Takes temperature, 101.8, yep you got a fever. Takes blood pressure, yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you eat a pound of salt before you came here? Nope, don't use salt and don't cook with it. Blood pressure is higher than it's ever been 170  over 120.

Conclusions: Very enflamed throat, acute bronchitis, throat, lungs, esophygus infected, dizzy spells possibly from high blood pressure, headaches, yep blood pressure can cause them, body aches, dam woman you survived surgery after surgery, 8 months of chemo, then radiation, over weight, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr darn doc had to remind me of that, high cholesterol, no more philly cheese steaks for me, sniff sniff.

Remedies: I am on an antibiotic called AVELOX 400MG, 1 PILL A DAY FOR 5 DAYS, WITH A BACK UP OF 5 MORE DAYS JUST IN CASE INFECTION IS STILL THERE.

BLOOD PRESSURE: I AM ON LOTREL 5/20 MG  AND ALSO ON MICARDIS-HCT  80MG/25MG.

OUT OF POCKET COST: NOTHING, ZILTCH, NADA, GOT IT ALL FREE. STICKER'S PUT ON PRESCRIPTIONS, EMMA GO GETS THEM FILLED AT CVS FOR ME AND IT COST NOTHING. WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO HAPPY DANCE ON THAT ONE FOR SURE.

DOC ALSO SAID I LOOKED HORRIBLE. SKIN REALLY PALE, RACOON EYES, HE ASKED IF I SLEEP OR STAY 24/7. I SLEEP, JUST NOT ALOT DURING THE WEEKDAYS. ON WEEKENDS I CAN CATCH AN EXTRA HOUR, BECAUSE JIM TENDS TO REBECCA.

CONCLUSION: TOOK ALL MY MEDS TONIGHT, AND I AM HOPING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY WHEN IT COMES TO THE THROAT PAIN. HE SAYS I SHOULD FEEL A DIFFERENCE IN ABOUT 3 DAYS, CAUSE THE ANTIBIOTIC IS A STRONG ONE AND GIVEN TO PATIENTS WHO HAVE INFECTIONS IN LUNGS FROM NUEMONIA, EMPHYZEMA, AND LUNG CANCER.

SO, AS LONG AS I TAKE MY MEDS, EXCERCISE, CAREFULLY WATCH WHAT I EAT, AND SEE HIM AGAIN IN A MONTH, I WILL BE OK.

I AM GOING TO MAKE ANOTHER ENTRY AFTER THIS ONE. IT IS OF THANKSGIVING DAY. JUST UPLOADED THE PICS IN PHOTOBUCKET AND CAN ADD THEM TO JOURNAL. SO THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT MY DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. I'LL BE OK NOW, I GOT SOME MEDICINE.

TAKE CARE.

CINDY

off i go

WISH ME LUCK, I AM OFF ON MY WAY TO THE DOCTOR'S. I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT HE SAYS WHEN I RETURN HOME AND TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY THANKSGIVING. THROAT IS REAL BAD THIS MORNING, SWALLOWING HAS BECOME A REAL HARD THING TO DO, AND THE PAIN IS JUST AWFUL. IT EVEN HURTS IN MY EARS NOW. I'LL BE BACK LATER WITH DETAILS.

Wow, did I sleep good last night. I didn't wake up until almost 9 this morning. Jim had already been up and made the coffee, fixed Rebecca breakfast and was doing the dishes when I crawled out of bed this morning and stood on my carpet which by the way still feels like a bed of nails. My feet feel like they are hot and so stiff and sore. I am so out of shape. But I still punish myself with all my walking. But it is something I have always liked to do. When I lived in virginia, I use to load up my daughter Rebecca in her coach and off to town we would walk. We did that almost everyday. Now since the surgeries and cancer and radiation and chemo, my body doesn't allow me to do the things I use to do. Even taking a shower is a project for me, because I have to wash my hair with one arm. The right arm I can't lift above my head to be of any help. The therapy excercises I have to do 3 times a day just don't help. There are times I wish the cancer would of been located elsewhere in my body so I didn't have to feel the discomfort and pain from it being in my neck. But I guess I am lucky it was there, cause it could of been breast cancer and I could of lost them right. Oh well, I just have to deal with this. My body is very sore from my adventure yesterday, but it is starting to ease up some. It hurts like hell when I walk, but it'll pass in another day or two. Except monday I have to walk back to my doctor's and pick up the form I dropped off for him to fill out. But his office is only about 10 blocks from me, so I can manage that. The worse part is walking there, cause it's sort of uphill.

Well, jim is at the laundry mat right now. We had about 6 loads of laundry to do. I am in no condition to bend and stretch to do laundry today. He had to stop and pick up eggs also. I want to bake some carrot cake muffins tonight. Grocery store had carrot cake mix on sale for 69 cents a box, so I bought 3 boxes, lol. I love a nice fluffy muffin with my coffee in the morning. Right now I think I am going to go make myself a cup of tea, warm up these bones of mine.

Next week I am gonna put my hand held donut maker to work.

I'm gonna make up some homemade donuts for the kids. Jim says I better make a couple dozen extra, cause he wants to take them to work to share with everyone. I have always done that. Made something during the holidays for him to take to work and share. He is really liking this place and the people there. I am so happy about that too. I don't have to hear him complaining, lol.

Well, it is 4:30 in the afternoon right now, and I guess I had better go put on some dinner for tonight. We are having stuffed chicken fillets, stuffed with cornbread stuffing, mashed potato's, gravy and a nice salad, green beans. Mmmmmm now I'm starving, lol. Well take care all and I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

I want to thank Missie for my lovely name tag. I just love it.

Why did I do it?????????????

Ok, I admit it!!!!! I am not 29. I am a 45 year old out of shape Grandmother, who must be out of her mind to think she can handle the walking I did today. Hubby says from what I told him where I walked, everyplace and home it was about 8 miles, yikes!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I nuts???? I must be. Rebecca on the other hand was like, Mommy isn't this a nice walk on such a beautiful day? She would say that, she was sitting in the coach all nice and comfy while Mommy was doing all the walking. My feet hurt so bad, I walk on my carpet and it feels like a bed of nails. By the time I got home and in the door, I had to sit on the steps for about 5 minutes before I could even attempt to walk up the steps carrying grocery bags. I didn't get home until almost 4:pm. And guess what? I forgot 2 items that I absolutely needed. Coffee filters and dishsoap. Emma just came over to pick up some money from me to go get them for me. I am gonna need coffee in the morning for sure. But anyways, I got all my errands done and I am glad too. Bought the groceries last and came right home. Jim got home tonight to a homemade burger, topped with lettuce and tomato on a kaizer roll and steamy hot buttered corn on cob. He ate it all, and that burger was huge. Then he says, Hun the laundry really needs to be done. Who is going to the laundry mat this weekend? I looked at him and said you are, tomorrow, because Momma ain't gonna be able to walk, lol. He said that's fine, he will go. I love my hubby.............

Jim and Rebecca were both in bed by 8:10 tonight and their both sound asleep too. I am enjoying this peace and quiet, believe me. When Emma gets back, I will lock the door, go make a cup of tea and sit at my computer until my eyelids are about to drop to the floor and then I will go to bed and fall straight to sleep and not feel the pain that is shooting through my body right now. I feel as though I have been run over by a steam roller.

I got a letter from poetry.com today. They wanted to tell me to get my poem written and submitted within the next 2 weeks and also to let me know they are publishing the poem I wrote when my Dad died, called CABIN. I can't believe they like the poem. It's just a little 3 paragraph poem I quickly jotted down, the day my Dad died. here is the poem they want to publish:

CABIN

A cozy little cabin, along the river's shore

that cozy little cabin, you now reside no more

An outting you did take, in your tiny little boat

one you did not make, your soul now did float

Gone from your cabin, from others they'll not see

your cozy little cabin, no more occupied by thee.

I don't know if that is good enough to publish, but apparently they like it and are going too, so that is awesome. Maybe I'll work on the one they want me to write and submit this weekend. Dam my feet hurt, why are these tiny trolls beating on my feet with hammer's, lol. That's what it feels like, really. Pan of hot water and some epsom salt's sounds good about now. I'll be torturing myself when Emma returns from the store. I have to walk down those steps and walk back up those steps, all 14 of them, to lock my door. I need to get her a key made. I've been meaning too, but keep forgetting. Told you I must of lost my mind, lol.

Someone asked if I will be posting the recipes for my cobbler's in my recipe journal. I hadn't planned on it, but I will do that. It is Peach Cobbler and Apple Crumb Cobbler. I do have a recipe in one of my older recipe notebooks for Plum Cobbler. I will find it and post that one also. Well, I guess I better go now and get those recipes posted. I hope you all have a wonderful night and an even better weekend.

If you don't have the link for my recipe journal here it is:

Good Morning

Good Morning my dear friends/family here in Jland. I'm going to have a busy day today, so I thought I would try and get an entry in before I get ready to leave. On my list today is the post office, my doctor's office to get a form filled out for social services, pharmacy for some Robitussin and Mucinex, then to grocery store. I will be doing all this walking. I am going to put Rebecca in the stroller and push her so I have something to hold onto to walk with and to help carry the items I have to pick up. It's going to be a long day.

Thanksgiving is coming up soon. We will be going to my daughter Emma's for dinner that day. I will be there doing the cooking. Making both a ham and a turkey that day, and all the fixings for both, plus pies and cobbler's. I love peach cobbler and apple crumb cobbler during the thanksgiving and christmas holidays. And top it off with some vanilla bean icecream and it is just fabulous. The kids love it.

Well, in case some didn't get the posting I made from Angie on her Giving Tree journal, I want to post it here. Angie is having problems due to technical difficulty and she is hoping to have her computer up and running no later then monday. For those who have a request for a need of help or have something they wish to donate to on the Giving Tree please continue to email Angie at CanyonSun04@aol.com  and she will get back to you as soon as she is back up and running again monday.

I had better go now. I need to fix Rebecca some breakfast and get us both dressed. Then we will be out the door to run our errands. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I want to extend a warm thank you to Roxy for making this wonderful tag for my daughter Rebecca, so I could use it in this entry today. Thank you so very much Roxy, I love it.

Last night after I gave Rebecca her bath and was combing her hair getting very frustrated, and hearing Rebecca yell, owwwwww that hurts, I decided it was time to make a change for her. I got out my hair cutting scissors and went to work. And after about 15 minutes, my little girl looked absolutely beautiful. She was kind of nervous at first, because she had it in her head that when you cut your hair it hurts, lol. And the look on her face seeing her hair laying on the floor afterwards was priceless. This morning in better lighting, while she was sitting at the computer in her PBS Kids site, I took her picture. So here she is with her new Do!!!!!!!

It was just about to her butt in length, now it is at her shoulder's. But I think she looks so cute with shorter hair. Her sister Emma hasn't seen it yet. She already has told me to not cut Rebecca's hair, but did I listen? NOPE!!!!!!!!!! I cut it because Rebecca has that very thin soft as cotton hair like her Dad and it gets so tangled and full of knots. I feel bad combing it out and hearing her say it hurts. So now we won't have so much to deal with.

Eagle's are playing the Redskin's right now. And the birds are kicking butt, woooooooohoooooooooo. Score is now 10 Eagle's and 0 Redskin's. And yes Rebecca is wearing her Eagle's Jersey.

The weather man said it was going to rain today, and he was right. It has just now started to rain. He also said heavy rain and lightning is moving in, and it may delay the Eagles/Redskin's game becausethey are playing here in Philadelphia. Good thing Jim walked to the store earlier, otherwise he would of gotten wet. He won't use my bright red umbrella, lol.

Well I set out the mousetrap again last night, and woke up this morning to another mouse in the trap. That makes 2 so far. And when I went into the kitchen a little while ago, I seen another mouse. This one ran into one of the back burner's of the stove. So, I put the trap out again. I hate mice, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. We are getting them because my neighbor is moving and she has been going through boxes and boxes of things in her basement from her packrat soon to be exhusband and as she is cleaning out the basement those furry lil varments are coming over here. But I'll get them, everyone of them, heehee <evil grin>.

Eagle's just got another touchdown, woooooohooooooooo goooooooooo EAGLE'S.

Well guess that is about it for now. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far. Gonna make up some homemade Chicken and rice soup for supper. Warm up the bone's. My chest cold seem's somewhat better. That Musinex is some good stuff. Have a great day.

My Veteran's Day Tribute

On November 11, 1918, in a railroad car somewhere in the forest of Compiegene, France, the armistice to end WWI was signed. WWI was called The Great War, because american's felt there could be no other war any greater. Little did they know what the future would hold!

This armistice became an annual observance on both sides of the Atlantic during the 1920's. Only back then it was called Remembrance Day in England and in Canada, and in the United States it was called Victory Day.

In 1921 the United States began honoring it's war dead soldier's. However November 11th didn't become a legal federal holiday until 17 years later in 1938. Back then it was felt that the death and destruction of WWI would never again be repeated, and when WWII came, those beliefs were changed.

In 1954 President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill declaring armistice day would forever be known from then on as a legal holiday to give tribute to all the men and women who served their country and November 11th will be forever celebrated as Veteran's Day.

So on this day November 11, 2006 I salute all the men and women who have served and are now serving in the military. Thank you for all you have done and all you are doing for my country, for our country.

Click Here           As a tribute to all who have served and are now serving in the military, this is for you.
