Sooooooo Tired

I have tried all week to make an entry, and each time I have fallen asleep here at the computer. I have been so totally drained lately. So tired that I can't sleep right. Of course this cold I have had for the past 2 weeks does not help the matter. It started as a head cold and worked it's way into my chest with alot of congestion and a horrible cough. Now I have a sore throat, my ears hurt, and I am feeling like total crap. The cough is so bad, you pee yourself, I am serious.

This has been a long week for me. In the mornings I get Rebecca ready for school and myself ready. Drop Jim off at work, get Rebecca into her class, and go back home to tend to Joe's Mom until 10am. I put on a pot of coffee, wake mommom up, and get her sat at the kitchen table, but first get her on the scale so I can weigh her. Then I check her temperature, blood pressure, then check her sugar level. I get her a glass of juice so she can take her pills, fix her a cup of coffee, make her some breakfast. After she finishes eatting, I then give her the insulin shot. I help get her showered, flush out the tube going to her gull bladder, help get her dressed and set up on the couch with her favorite channel on TNT, then I leave and head back to the school. This week I have been working with groups of 5 kids at a time and helping them to make picture frames with their picture in them to give to their Mom or Grandmom for christmas. The kids really enjoyed doing this, and I have to admit, so did I. I absolutely adore these kids, just seeing them smile and hearing them laugh makes me feel so good inside. I walk into the classroom and they all say Hi, Miss Cindy and run up to me for hugs. I totally love it. I've even had a few of them tell me they wish I was their mommy. One little boy who was saying he doesn't like me because I make him sit down and do his work, now tells me he loves me, lol. I wish I was 20 years younger, because I would love to go to school to become a kindergarten teacher. But being 46 years old, having a small child of my own and my health issues, makes it impossible for me now. So I will just enjoy being an aide for now.

Those trays of treats in the picture I made for the kids. They were a huge hit. The kids loved them and so did their teacher, lol. I took 3 12oz bags of Nestle's chocolate chips and melted them. Added 3 tablespoons of butter, added 1 cup of  powdered sugar and a big box of Rice Krispies. Mixed it all up, put it in trays, sprinkled it with jimmies/sprinkles and cut it into squares. Tomorrow their having a christmas party. I made up little snack bags, each containing 2 cookies, 1 marshmallow snowman, 3 hershey kisses and red, white, green jelly beans for each student. Their going to have cupcakes and juice also. And watch the movie How the Grinch stole Christmas. We're gonna have a classroom of happy kids tomorrow for sure.

One lil boy will not be back in school for a while. He hasn't been feeling well and his doctor had blood work done on him. The results showed he has Scarlet Fever. His older brother came to the class today and said his lil brother is very sick and won't be back in school for at least a month, and wanted to know if he could have a packet of work for his brother so he doesn't fall behind. I don't know much about scarlet fever, but I am going to do some checking on it. I hope it is not contagious!!!

Rebecca and I wrapped a gift for her teacher. She is giving her teacher 2 glass bell ornaments and an angel pin. All are handmade by a lady who goes to bingo with my son in law's mom.

Today at school the kids got a surprise visit from Santa claus. Rebecca got to sit on his lap and tell him what she wanted for christmas. Guess what she wants? A nutcracker figurine. LOL The ones that are like 2 feet tall. I guess I better get to looking for one. Last year CVS had them, I am hoping they have them again this year and I can get her one. I received 26 christmas cards already. I love getting cards in the mail. My next entry will show all the cards, and I promise it will be soon. Probably friday because no school, yeaaaaaaaaa.

I guess I am going to go now. I am gonna check the weather and local news then go to bed.

GOOD NIGHT ALL........................CINDY

  2. Dirk's partner at work has a son who is autistic.  He's just three years old and they called them from daycare to come and get little Jesse.  He was taken to the ER with Scarlet Fever.  They say he's a really sick boy but he's not contagious.  I hear it's going around the U.S. again and like the staph infections we've been hearing about it's epidemic.  I'm sorry you've been so exhausted.  I would love doing what you are doing with those children.  I'm the same age as you and Katie wears me out!  I am taking naps sometimes when she does and staying up late at night just to get some 'me' time.  I do hope you get to feeling better soon.  Just know I miss you.

  10. That virus you have is the one that I had, it is everywhere over here and really drags you down. Cindy I know you have to look after Mommon, that is so important, but you should really try and get some rest especially as you are not well at the moment. There is only so much a person can do. xxxx - p.s. the thing for the boys has not arrived yet.

  38. I got scarlet fever in the 5th grade but I was the  only one who got it in the whole school.  It used to be a terrible scourge in the days with no antibiotics  But now days people do not die of it as they did then.  It is strange, after a rash your skin all peels off in long strips, or mine did!  I of course did not have antibiotics then as I am 76.  You may have to just drop and rest to get over that cold  Sounds like you are still doing a lot  You seem like a very nice lady to feel so much joy in working with the kids  I admire that.   Gerry

I do hope that you get to feeling better.  I had that cold, and I'm still suffering with that damn cough too!  As for Scarlet Fever.. I don't believe it's contagious, but I could be wrong.
