Quick Note

Dan is in the rehab center. He will be there anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. He will be receiving physical therapy, aqua therapy and mental help.

We fought to have my granddaughter placed n school with Rebecca and we didn't win. The only way was for Emma to give up guardianship to me and we cannot do that. So, that Marissa doesn't fall behind and knows as much as the kids in her first grade class come September, I am homeschooling her. Just 2 hours each morning and she will be ok. Rebecca's teacher is going to help me with lesson plans and work sheets. And has given me sites to register at and download material to use also.

Ok I said this was quick. I have to get Rebecca dressed, and myself. Fix Jim's lunch and get my things together for Marissa today. Then be at the school at 12noon to help with Rebecca's class.

Snow, ice and rain coming my way later this afternoon. Is it spring yet.

Love you all..................

  2. I am not sure if you have ever said why, but what is going on at Marissa's school? Or is she just missing so much due to everything going on? I thought they were happy with her school?
I'm glad Dan is getting the rehab he needs :)

  9. you have your hands full there but it is great news how everything is being taken care of, one way or another. and it is ridiculous that they couldn't make an exception based on marissa's unique circumstances. but it is great that you are able to make up the difference..
    take care

  14. Glad Dan is getting the help he needs. Sorry you couldn't get Marissa where she needs to be, but at least you're working with her and the teacher is help I'm sure. Our schools are closed today. We got about 4-5 inches of snow, but it's melting now. It's been sleeting early this morning and freezing over the snow. The trees are really pretty they look like crystal.
    Take care, Chrissie

  20. I'm sorry you didn't win your fight for Marissa. But, it will be very good to home school her. She'll learn a lot that way.
Are you pulling her out of school to home school her? Or doing it in addition to schooling?
I'm glad Dan is getting the help he needs. Good for him!

  31. As a homeschooler of a 1st grader I'll give you this advice...read, read, read. Most important thing for her at this age. Make sure SHE's reading, read TO her as well. Math I don't know where she was at school. Work with her on reading time, counting money, making sure she has basic concepts down. Jacob's math is very advanced for his age.

Make sure she's getting in some art projects, music, etc. I have tons of links if you'd like them, just let me know. Even free stuff to at the very least low cost.

  34. I am sorry you lost that battle, but you may find that homeschooling is a better option for learning anyway. I have discovered when going at the childs pace they absorb more and retain more of the information you are teaching them.
