My weekend so far

Good morning!!! I have had a very nice weekend so far. Yesterday my grandson Daniel was here for the day. What a joy it is having him spend the day with me. He is so lovable, I got lots of hugs and kisses from him. And yes he shared "my" diet pepsi with me, lol. Walked around carrying my cellphone, opening it and placing it by his ear, backwards of course saying, HiYo. That is how he pronounces hello, lol. It is so cute. Emma dropped him off around 10:45 yesterday morning, and I kept him til 8:pm. We were having too much fun playing. But around 8pm, he was starting to show signs of being tired so I called Emma and he sent Dan to pick him up. He went right over to his daddy, gave him a kiss and looked at me and waved bye bye. Emma said when she got home, he said bot bot, grabbed his fuzzy soft fleece blanket and wanted to go to bed. I guess he was tired, lol. He is such a good baby. He's now 18mos old, and growing so fast now. But he still likes it when mommom holds him and rocks him in the rocking chair. I need to get some boy toys here for him. Yesterday all he played with were girls toys and Rebecca's doll stroller. lol. Poppop was not liking that too much. lol. Today it is quiet. Rebecca is watching HBO Family cartoons and Jim is at the marina helping Joe get his boat out of the water. Time to winterize it, cover it and put in dry dock for the winter. I haven't been out on the boat, since the summer I found out I had cancer. That's been 2 years now. I still haven't been up to the cabin in the pocono's either. Just don't want to be the outdoor's person anymore. It's no fun when you have to be all covered and have sunblock, hat, sunglasses on just to go outside. It worries me that my daughter Emma keeps going to the tanning salon for her tan, knowing cancer runs in the family and I have had it. She has already had a cancer scare when they removed 128 pallops from her cervix a few years ago. I am so thankful they weren't cancer. Her grandmother (jims mom) told her the tanning salon is not a good thing to do. She should know, she was an RN for 48 years and I trust her judgement. Well, I am still in my pajamas and it is 11am, lol. Yep, I'm taking a lazy day. I will get dressed soon and start my house chores. I'm gonna put on a pot of spaghetti sauce soon, let it cook all day. Gonna add some green peppers, onions and sweet and hot italian sausage to it, yummy.  Also gonna make some Brushetta to go along with it. I love making it home made, it is delicious. If my son in law knows I am making it, you bet your sweet patooty he'll be over, lol. Here's the recipe if you'd like to try it.

4 diced tomatoe's     1 small onion diced small

5 tablespoons olive oil         3 tablespoons white vinegar

1/4 tsp black pepper          1/4 tsp dried basil

parmesan cheese        8 slices toasted garlic bread (I buy garlic bread toast from the store and use it)

add tomato, olive oil, vingar, onion, and pepper and basil into bowl and mix. bake garlic bread toast as according to instructions on box. spoon enough tomato mixture on each piece of toast to cover it. sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve immediately. Mmmmmmm this is so good.

Well, not much more to write about at the moment so I will go now. Hope your all enjoying your morning. I'm gonna get dressed and put on my sauce now. Take care all and have a wonderful day.

Reminder: Do those breast exams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also want to thank Mandy for this so very cute breast cancer awareness name tag.So thank you Mandy, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. My little sister used to go to those tanning beds too.  She never smoked a cigarette a day in her life.  She is now in Heaven because lung cancer took her away....There is NO WAY I would tan that way.  I will stay white like God made me... Barbara

  7. Hi Cindy,
Sounds like you are having a nice weekend.
18 months is such a cute stage for a baby.  I remember my son at that age.
My son isn't feeling well, has a slight fever and just laying around.
I promised to get him a slurpee, so that is where I will go now.
    Enjoy your dinner.
    XO

  10. I think it is great that she still rocks him, god knows they grow up so quickly :(  Please try and have a sit down talk with your daughter Emma, let her know and see in your eyes how horrible it is. It's the leading killing cancer in young people 20-30's.  It's often difficult to detect, many don't even seen the signs, they are often even found in the scalp. IT's nothing to mess with. If she needs a tan that bad, get the creme or spray, there are some good ones. Tanning salons are a cancer nightmare.  No good. And yes, I have been to them and loved it, I love the heat and the color.  But I love being a mom more. BUt honestly, it is a ADDICTION and I'm not lying, it's been studied found and true as a full addiction.
    Much Love

  11. Hold dinner for me, I'm on my way !! I see a lot of cancer cases at work, all ages...the Tanning salon is not good....plus it ages you, and makes you look like leather eventually.
Your grandson sounds adorable... I use to love rocking my babies, I miss that.

  15. Cindy, I'm so glad you had a good weekend and spent time with your grandson. He sounds precious! I miss being able to rock a baby. It's going on one year since I've seen my grandaughter. Time goes by too fast and before you know it, they're too old to want to be rocked or hugged all the time, LOL. I'm going to say the same thing everyone else said, PLEASE talk to your daughter about the tanning salons. Why would she risk not being around to watch her baby grow up? It's stupid the way these young kids put themselves in danger. I hope to God that she stops that. I wouldn't want you to have to deal with seeing your daughter with cancer. That would be too hard and too painful for you. Love ya!

    Big Hugs, Mandy ~

  16. Awww so glad you got a chance to enjoy Daniel. He sounds like Kyan, except Kyan won't have anything to do with "bop" (Pop) as he calls it. When the kids give him a drink he makes a nasty face and wipes his tongue. He only likes juice and gatorade. I rock my baby boy still too and we humm. Jim is gonna have to get over that doll stroller thing Kyan loves to push his big umbrella stroller around and he dresses his big Diego pillow in pjs...LOL. He's gotta get ready for bed too. I always leave here hungry. If I'm ever lost I'm gonna find my way to you. You sound like a wonderful cook. I'm not that good myself. I can grill for you, but that's about it.
    Take care, Chrissie
