UPDATE ON DANIEL

I SWEAR I THINK THESE DOCTORS AT THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL ARE A BUNCH OF QUACKS WHEN IT COMES TO TODDLERS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME DANIEL HAS BEEN TO CHOP. (CHILDRENS HOSPITAL OF PHILADELPHIA) FIRST TIME THIS RASH WAS DIAGNOSED AS CHICKEN POX, SECOND TIME ALLERGIES, NOW THEIR SAYING IT IS HERPES???? THIS CHILD IS BATHED EVERYDAY, KEPT WITH CLEAN DRY DIAPERS, CLEAN CLOTHES ALWAYS GETTING HIS FACE AND HANDS WASHED AND HE HAS HERPES? I TELL YOU THEIR QUACKS. THE ULTRASOUND SHOWED NOTHING. SO THE DOCTOR SAYS HE HAS HERPES, WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE AND AFTER HE'S CHANGED, GIVE HIM TYLENOL FOR HIS SWOLLEN BLUE TESTICLES AND TAKE HIM HOME. HE IS IN PAIN, IF YOU TOUCH ONE OF THOSE SPOTS HE CRIES IT HURTS, IF HE STANDS OR SITS UP HE SAYS IT HURTS, AND ALL THIS DOCTOR SAID WAS WASH YOUR HANDS AND GIVE HIM TYLENOL? I SWEAR IF SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH MY GRANDSON, AND HE IS HOSPITALIZED DUE TO THESE QUACKS, I AM GOING TO HUNT THEM DOCTORS DOWN LIKE A DOG AND CHEW OFF THEIR ARMS, GRRRRRRRRR. BLOOD WORK SHOULD OF BEEN DONE. I DON'T CARE IF HE'S 2 1/2 YRS OLD, IT SHOULD OF BEEN DONE AND THINGS CHECKED. POOR EMMA AND DAN. THEY ARE TOTALLY DRAINED. DAN LOOKS LIKE HE IS ABOUT TO FALL OVER, AND EMMA IS HURTING AND NEEDS TO GO HOME AND LAY DOWN. I JUST KNOW THEY'LL BE UP HALF THE NIGHT WORRYING ABOUT DANIEL, AND TAKING CARE OF THE BABY.

AS FOR ME I AM IN FOR A LONG NIGHT. NOW MY REBECCA IS SICK WITH A STUFFY NOSE. SHE KEEPS WAKING UP EVERY 30 MINUTES COMPLAINING OF HER NOSE. IT'S ALL RED AND EYES ARE RED. I THINK SHE WILL BE MISSING HER FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL TOMORROW IF SHE DOESN'T FEEL BETTER BY MORNING. I'M GONNA RUB SOME VICKS ON HER CHEST AND HOPE THAT WORKS. I TURNED THE AIRCONDITIONING ON IN THE BEDROOM ON LOW. THAT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HELP HER BREATHE. OK VICKS IS ON HER CHEST, I PUT A LIGHT TSHIRT ON HER SO THE VAPORS CAN RISE AND SHE CAN BREATHE IT IN WHILE SLEEPING. GLASS OF ICE WATER WILL BE ON HER NIGHTSTAND. ALONG WITH TISSUES.

I HAVE PICTURES AND A COUPLE 15 SECOND VIDEO'S I MADE OF ADRIANNA TONIGHT. BUT I AM JUST TOO EXHAUSTED TO DOWNLOAD THEM. I WILL TRY TO WORK ON IT TOMORROW, ALONG WITH GETTING TO YOUR JOURNALS. I HAVEN'T DELETED ANY OF THEM, I STILL HAVE THEM. AND I WILL GET TO THEM.

GOOD NIGHT...........CINDY

  3. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? This baby is in pain and they say nothing is wrong. What kinda crap is that? Just because it's night and they don't wanna mess with him. I hate ERs no offense to anyone on here that works in one, but my experience has been the same. What makes me sick is the time they are wasting finding out what the problem is while this child is hurting and still having problems. It does make you wanna kill someone. This is the reason I go with KT because she is quiet NOT me I go in there like I own the place and something better be done NOW like two minutes ago. I hope he can go to a doctor during the office hours and let them see what the problem is. I hate ERs. I was hoping for better news. Sorry Rebecca is sick now. I hate to say but with school she'll be sick all the time now. Hope you get some rest.
    Take care and Hugs, Chrissie

  12. If it is Herpes, Daniel could have picked it up anywhere.  He could have gotten bite by another kid etc.  Of course, he is a little guy. How would he have been exposed? Herpes is viral.  It doens't mean that he hasn't been taken care of properly.  Poor little guy.  Is their another place nearby where they can go get a second opinion?

  13. I don't know a thing about herpes. I am surprised though they did not check his blood. Our childrens here is awesome. Emma needs to find SOME way to take it easy, she shouldn't have been up all that time, it's not good for her health at all :(  I wish I lived closer to help you guys out in times like this.

Love you sis, hang in there, give Emma my love

  18. Goodness you've had quite the night - I certainly hope that Daniel is feeling better, Emma and Dan are resting and Rebecca is off for her day of school.  This has been such an emotional week - high of having Adrianna joining the family and then the low of poor Daniel.  Hope this is a quiet weekend where everyone can start to recover.  Leene

  20. HI Cindy...I'm Bethe.  I am new to Jland..& a Pediatric nurse/OB nurse.  Just wanted to rely some personal experience......When I was working in a pediatric office, Ipart of my job was triaging calls from Moms.  They would tell me how thier child had a rash, similar to the chickenpox, but sith most of them it was only on one side of the body.  But, their child had already had chickenpox.  Now I was having many calls come in, same thing.  The Dr, of course wanted to see them for an appt.  Sure enough, these kids had Herpes.  I had never heard of this.  My employer, be the terrific doc he was explained....the virus that causes Chickenpox is a Herpes virus.  I shows itself as Chickenpox initially, but then the virus sits dormant along the spinal cord and may show itself and Shingles(Herpes) later in life when for some reason our immune system is compromised. Can be due to medications (chemo), illness (cancer, flus, old age, asthma), a compromised immune system.  He was surprised that a the number, but also explained that many viruses, like bacteria, are becoming more resilant (& mutating) and are infiltrating past the immune systems in our little ones and elderly.
I'm not a doctor and don't pretend to be, just a personal experiece and he explained it so well.

It's not a matter of hygiene, it was going to happen no matter how clean you keep the baby.  Its within his body.

It will probably last 10-14 days and is not contagious.  Of course, he may get a cold, because his immune system is compromised due to the herpes.  But, it is a virus and nothing you can do except try to make him comfortable (tylenol, calamine or caladryl lotion to the rash), lots of cool baths( with Domebro in the water), fluids( kids like popsicles).  No cortisone cream...it may make the rash worse.

    Hope this helps....Bethe

  21. I was going to leave about the same comment as Bethe did.. having worked in the ER, but she beat me to it.  She makes perfect sense, Cindy.  Don't be too hard on those doctors.. :)

I pray that Daniel feels better soon, and that whatever meds you all give him will help to alleviate his pain!

    God Bless..
    Hugs
    Jackie
