MY WEDDING

I was going to save this entry for saturday. But I have so much to do the next few days, I decided to post it today. On saturday March 24th Jim and I will celebrate our 28th yr wedding anniversary. We were married at the ages of Jim 23 and me 17 (3mos short of being 18). Our wedding took place in a cute little white church in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Our preacher Rev. Paul Westcott performed the ceremony. His sister Faith played the piano that day for us, and his wife Kitty bought my bouquet of flowers for me as a wedding gift. My bridesmaid was my sister Lucy and my made of honor was the SIL of the preacher, Kathy Westcott. Standing next to Jim was an usher Bill Westcott (maid of honors husband and brother of preacher). The best man was Jim's best friend Dan McCormick. After the wedding ceremony we all made our way to the reception which was held at Clover Gunning Club, where my Dad was a member. I did not have any alcohol at all at my wedding. There were a few alcoholic's at my wedding that when they got to drinking they got mean and ugly. And out of respect for Jim's grandfather Rev. Walter Sawn who attended our wedding I did not want any ugliness. The wedding cake was made by my maid of honor Kathy. She was going to cake decorating school and volunteered to make my cake. My wedding gown was loaned to me by my very best friend MaryLou. She wore it on her wedding day. That meant alot to me to wear her dress. The necklace was loaned to me by Kathy Westcott. The menu wasn't anything special, it was all made by Kitty and Kathy but paid for by me using my last 4 unemployment checks. We had potato and maxaroni salads, meatballs and sauce, cold cut tray, fruit salad, punch and soda's, and the cake. My Dad couldn't afford to pay for my wedding, he did give me 50.00 towards it, and as a gift gave Jim and I a 19" color tv (used) but we were thankful for the gift. We got lots of gifts, such as towels, electric blanket, electric frying pan, dishes, glasses, linens, and cash. It was a beautiful day for us, even though it was raining, grrrrrrr, lol. Since that day it has rained on all our anniversary's but one. On that one it snowed, lol. The pictures were all taken by my very best friend MaryLou. I am so greatful to her. I lost all my pics except for a couple, and she saved them all these years. Thank you MaryLou, you are awesome girlfriend and I love you dearly. So without further ado, here is my wedding pictures.

Dad and I entering the church.

The preacher welcoming everyone to ceremony and asking who gives me to this man.

Another view of asking.

Blurred but ceremony has ended.

Thanking our guests for attending. Jim and I in the middle, best man near me and maid of honor near Jim.

Opening our gifts. The electric blanket, given to us from my Aunt Helen and Uncle Bill.

Jim and I and that beautiful delicious cake.

Cutting the cake. The 2 lil ones are my sister Helen and Philip, youngest son of Kathy and Bill Westcott.

Feeding each other the cake, mmmmmmm yummy.

We didn't really have a honey moon. We went to a motel in Millville, NJ for 1 night. Didn't do anything because of 2 reasons, I fell asleep due to exhaustion and lack of sleep the last 3 days before wedding, and 2, Aunt Flo decided to pay me an early visit the day before my wedding, grrrrrrrrrr.

The past 28 yrs with Jim I have to say were good and bad. But more good than bad. We've had a few arguments, a few rough times, but there's one thing that always got us through it and has given us 28 yrs of a wonderful marriage, and that is the marriage recipe.

                                 Marriage Recipe

                                   1 cup love

                                    1 cup respect

                                   1 cup trust

                                   1 cup honesty

  4. Aww Cindy.. you and Jim look so cute together!  You were a real hottie back in the day, weren't you? :)  Thank you for sharing your wedding pictures!  I love your recipe for a good marriage.  Fortunately for me, and whatever man I might meet in the future, we will not have to practice those, as I plan to never marry again! lol

  5. Happy Early Anniversary! May you have another 28 yrs together!! To think that 20 yrs ago being married for as long as you two have was the norm and now it's getting less and less common for most to make it 5 yrs!
Marriage is hard work, sometimes you have to give, sometimes your spouse has to give. Sometimes you live in bliss, sometimes you live in tolerance, but you do it...and at the end of the day you have someone that loves you despite your ugly moments!

    God Bless you and Jim!
