Birthday, Poetry, Singer

Today May 25th, my Dad would of celebrated his 70th birthday. Sadly he passed away in September of 2005. Happy Birthday Dad, I miss you.

How many of you watched American Idol wednesday night? Jim and I were glued to the television. Yes, my husband loves watching AI, lol. Ok so did you see the lady all done up in Yellow you got an award? Was she a trip or what? And the sounds coming from her mouth. And that poem? Did you know she is a celebrity? Yep, she sure is. And she is also a poet. I came across an email from POETRY.COM and I was like, NO way. It can't be Margaret Fowler. But it was. And she is on stage strutting her stuff, singing her heart out with a man who was my idol when I was a teenager. I loved this man. I even dreamed of marrying him when I had gotten older, lol. Teenage dreams, lol. Here he is, when I was younger and watched him on tv.

 Do you remember him?

It is Tony Orlando, the show was called Tony Orlando and Dawn. I loved this man. I idolized this man. In my eyes he was the most handsome guy I had ever seen perform on television. To me back then, he was GOD.

Tony performed live at a banquet given by And who did he invite up on stage to sing with him? None other then Margaret Fowler. This time she was dressed all in white. Let me just say I was shocked, cause Miss Thing can sing. Margaret got up on that stage, and strutted her stuff and sang her heart out like it was something she was born to do.

Click on the link below and watch her for yourself. And the guy who invites her up on stage is, Tony Orlando.

  3. Oh Cindy, Tony Orlando a God????? Oh Lordy!

  4. First off, let me share my condolences on the loss of your father, and Happy Belated Birthday to him.  Ms Fowler has a wonderful voice.  She is also a smart lady to understand how to market her talents, lol.  What a kicker!  Hope you got good rest last night.

  5. Such a nice photo of your Dad...and rememberance too.  Yes, I remember well Tony Orlando and Dawn...loved them.  I hope you have a beautiful Memorial Day weekend...many hugs,

  6. Lovely pic of Dad, I know he's up in Heaven watching you ever so proudly.

  7. What a nice tribute to your Dad, Im sure he's above just as proud as ever - Do I dare admit that I remember Tony Orlando and then admit I also used to watch his show - wouldn't that age me? Oh well, I enjoyed the good ol days. I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Have a happy one!

  8. I am sorry about the loss of your Dad.  Mine has been gone almost 19 years and I still miss him.  So sorry to have to admit that I also watched Tony Orlando but wasn't in love with him like you.  I did love Freddie Prince and Danny Bonneduce.  That should have  been a warning, huh?  HA HA
That lady is from Atlanta and we don't claim her.  She is embarrassing!  Did you see how she humped RYAN SEACREST LIVE on stage???!!!! No class.

  9. I also loved Tony Orlando and Dawn.....he was so dreamy back then....
I am not into american idol but I hear it was a big night on it.
    Enjoy your holiday weekend!!!!

  10. I haven't been into AI much this year. Glad you enjoyed it! Happy Bday to your Dad. Sorry you lost him so young.

  15. First off, my condolences on the loss of your Dad. He was too young. My dad passed in Jan 2003.  He was 79.  I miss him so. Mom has been gone since 1989.
Soooo you had a little thing for Tony Orlando. He was quite the thing in his day. And that Marg. Fowler.  If she weren't quite so flamboyant, she might do something with her singing voice. Thanks for sharing the UTube.
    Have a good holiday weekend.

  16. Happy Birthay to your dad .....may he be having the best birthday in heaven.
I saw that lady on AI. Had no clue she was who you said. That's funny.
I remember Tony Orlando (didnt he sing the Tie a yellow ribbon song?)

  17. I thought the last sentence you said was, "I'm going to brf.."  But then I realized you just hit the wrong keys, and meant to say bed! lol

Oh, yes, I do remember Tony Orlando.  Remember these two songs? "Knock 3 times!"  and, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon round' the Old Oak Tree!"
    He was pretty darn awesome!

  18. Knock 3 times on the ceiling if you want me. Or something like that. I loved him and used to watch the show all the time. I was only able to watch about 30 min of AI, but I liked what I saw.

  19. great entry sissy
