GOOD MORNING

Memorial Day  is just not to celebrate with swimming and backyard BBQ's, it is for remembering those who served in wars such as WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War, and also for those who are overseas right now. It's for remembering our fallen hero's, those who died, those who were injured, those who were captured and imprisoned in a POW camps. To all these men and women I sallute you, and I thank you.

Memorial Day and Veteran's day are very special to me. My father was a Korean War Veteran, who served in the navy. My father in law is a Korean War Veteran, who served in the Marines. And I am proud to say my hubby is a Vietnam War veteran, who served in the Navy. My hubby has told me stories of how protestors would spit at the military men and women, calling them  names. Well, in my opinion those who did so were cowards. Where were they during the Vietnam War? They sure were'nt fighting for the country that they claimed to love so much, instead they were putting those down who believed in our country, who cared. I for one am a proud american, proud for having men and women with the courage to fight for this country, fight for us, fight for our freedom. God Bless them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry this entry is late. So much was going on yesterday. Lucy's friend Pete didn't come. He didn't have any room in his truck. He had to pick up 9000.00 worth of supplies for his business and just didn't have any room. But he said he will be here wednesday. I sure hope so.

Jim and Joe got home at 11:am yesterday. Rebecca was so happy to see her Daddy. She ran up to him with open arms, and didn't leave his side until it was her bedtime. Jim and Joe said they came home early so Rebecca and I could celebrate memorial day, and not sit home alone. That was nice of them to think of us.

They had a great time up at the cabin, even though they had no electric. Their friends were down at the bottom of the mountain at their cabin, so Jim and Joe were invited to a cookout sunday. They enjoyed that. They cut down alot of dead tree's and burned them, to avoid termites later spreading to thecabin.

Here's Jim and the fire they made. Next photo is Joe.

What is it with men and campfires? These 2 are careful though. They have made a fire pit, and before they make the fire, they have six 5 gallon buckets full of water. They dump water all around the ground around fire pit so no hot sparks cause a fire that gets out of control, and they refill the buckets to keep just in case. They've only got about 10 more dead tree's to cut up and burn now.

Well, in 3 days we are leaving for our trip to Pittsburgh. It'll be nice to get out of the noisey city for a few days. We're going to a horse ranch owned by Joe's brother Mike and his wife Kim. It's a wedding reception for them. They were married about 4 months ago, but they waited to have the reception so they would have nice weather and could have it at the ranch outside. It is a catered BBQ, should be lots of good food. Rebecca asked Joe if there's any baby horses she can pet. And guess what? There is. One of the mares just had a baby last week. Here's a pic of mommy and her baby.

This is momma Sadie, and her son Shooter.

Isn't he adorable? I'm going to clean off my camera disk and take extra batteries, so I can get lots of pictures to share with you all, of our trip to Pittsburgh. I'm pretty sure the band that is going to be there is Mikes son Chad from his first marriage. Chad's band is awesome. This is Mikes, third marriage, but he says this time it is for keeps. Kim is a very nice lady, very smart and so loving. I can't wait to go there, but I am also dreading the drive. It takes about 6.5 hours to get there. I'm packing the cooler with sandwiches and juice and water. Bringing snacks to munch on. I bought Rebecca things to keep her busy such as a SpongeBob video game, a poker video game (she matches the letters and numbers) a new book and chip for her Leap Pad that she received from a Jlander, and a Strawberry shortcake Doodle pad and book. Also her Dry Erase board and markers, so she will have plenty to keep her busy. I have to start getting out clothes and packing them up for us. I wrapped Mike and Kim's gift. I got them a porceline frame. It has 2 small photo sections where they put a childhood picture of themselves in, and then a larger section where a wedding photo goes in. It's really beautiful.

Now, I want to share something very sad with you, sent to me by my friend Carol who lives in Florida. This is a reason I do not like PITBULL dogs. They are dangerous. I do not care how calm or friendly they act. They are a breed of dog that can turn on you in a split second. They are born with a mean streak, and no matter how well trained to be obedient, that mean streak is still there. Here is what she sent me.

HI, JUST WANDERING IF YOU CAN PUT SOMETHING IN YOUR JOURNAL, MY OLD NEIGHBOR IN THE ESTATES WAS MAULED EARLY FRIDAY AM AS SHE WAS TAKING HER MORNING WALK, SHE WAS MAULED BY 2 PITT BULLS, HER NAME WAS MRS. VILMOT BENJAMINS  ON JUNG BLVD E. NAPLES.  SHE NEVER RETURNED FROM HER WALK, SOMEBODY FOUND HER BODY SATURDAY AFTER 2PM, THE FAMILY FOUND HER HAIR, AND HER GLASSES NEAR HER, SHE WAS 20 YARDS FROM HER HOUSE, SHE WAS FOUND FACED DOWN IN A DITCH, AND SHE MUST OF DIED FRIDAY, BUT WHY NOT BE FOUND TILL AFTER 2PM ON SATURDAY, SHE WAS 72 YRS. OLD,,,,,,,, ITS VERY SAD, BUT THE FAMILY IS TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER, AND THEY ARE DOING OK. I HOPE ANIMAL CONTROL CATCH THE PITTBULLS.

Is this awful or what? That poor woman, and what she must of gone through. It just breaks my heart, thinking of the pain and the horror this poor woman went through leading to her death. I hope these dogs are found and killed.  Please say a prayer for her family. I am so glad my friend Carol moved from that area.

Well, Jim cooked chicken and burgers out on the grill last night. Man was it good. Those burgers were so juicy. I whipped up some potato salad and deviled eggs to go along with it. Jim and Rebecca went to bed around 8PM. I stayed upworking on one of the projects I am doing. I'm crocheting a doiley. It is almost done. I sat crocheting and watching tv. Then I got bored and baked cupcakes, lol. 10PM and I'm in the kitchen baking. I didn't even go on computer last night. Sometimes I just need a break from it. But this morning I woke up to 115 new emails, along with the 86 I had when I signed off yesterday. Guess I have alot of reading to do, huh? Well, I guess that's about all there is to write about. I have some mail to get out in the mailbox this morning. So, take care, and enjoy your day.

LOVE TO ALL.........................................

  10. I hear arguments on both sides about pit bulls, but from personal experience unless the owners can keep them away from other people, they shouldn't exist.  My sister lives in FL too (St Augustine) and has been chased on several occasions by her neighbor's pit bulls.  Unfortunately, the laws don't protect citizens well enough until a tragedy occurs.  They told her as long as the neighbor's have a fence, there is not much they can do.  Well this fence is falling down and that is where they enter into her yard.  She has narrowly escaped at least three times.  I just hate it.  No one should be afraid to walk in their community because some idiot neighbor can't control their pets.  Grrrr.

  13. Oh that is so awful about the old lady.  We have legislation on pitbulls over here.  I don't think you are allowed to have them except maybe under licence but I think they are a banned breed.  We went to a friend's house once and when we knocked on the door he came to open it but before he could his dog started going crazy.  We thought they were playing but it had started to attack him and bit him badly.  It was an English bull terrier.  It was so frightening.  He loved that dog and it just turned on him.  He had it put down a week or so later but found it difficult to do.  I would have done it that night.  I hope you have a great time at the wedding and am looking forward to seeing all your photos.  Try to rest on the trip and take a lot of stops.  Hugs, Terry x
